Plastic sheets: Harry Hartmann Fiberreed HEMP Tenor Sax M Forestone Unfiled Tenor Sax M, F4 (Forestone Black Bamboo Tenor Sax MS)
I: medium-sized leisure tenor (with occasional excursions to the baritone)
My "instrumentation" I do not describe from vanity so extensively. Such a description would have been very helpful for my search for a plastic sheet. The Black Bamboo I have at least a strength too soft bought and do not use it.
After a consultation by the Thomannsche Saxophonabteilung (thank you!) I decided for the og Hemp and the Unfiled. Both have the right strength for me, all the tones are present - the deep ones sometimes a little. But is more likely in my day form than on the equipment. That plastic sheets very smooth and so do not feel "wood", is for me no disadvantage. Also that you do not have to "play" before playing games, I find good. I can not say anything about the durability.
The Hemp sounds fuller in my ears, saxiger. The Unfiled has a clear, more dry tone. I am satisfied with both of them, I play both on both mouthpieces. The Hemp I would rather buy again, I personally find the sound more beautiful.
And no, I see no puristic either-or between bamboo and plastic; I will change according to desire, mood and room climate.
