Perfect for beginners

Fabian M, 26.11.2009
Looking for a cheap entry into the world of guitar playing, I was pretty much everywhere, where you could only get distant guitars. My search for a good price / performance ratio (as already so often) at Thomann an end.

Immediately after the first hold of the guitar I noticed that the painting was not quite perfect, and the cotches partially surpassed (!). However, the overall design was simple, from the chrome hardware to the great weight of the guitar. Just once listened and for the price then not too long considered - Packaged as a bundle and ab thus home. Have the guitar now for almost 2 years and am actually still satisfied with it. Only the chopsticks white mean lower grooves (deep E-string) on ??the ...

Conclusion:

Per:
+ Very, very good price / performance ratio
+ Very good sound
+ Wide range of applications
+ Look out

Contra
- Divide the processing
- Right on the stage - rather less

So for beginners an urgent purchase recommendation, if you do not want to spend several hundred euros.

Update 2015:
So, now I've been calling the guitar now for eight years my own. Recently I had the guitar less and less in the hands (with the time and the experience rise now also the requirements) - however, was the good piece of my first guitar, from which one separates, as is well known, quite reluctantly. So it was not a question of selling, so it was a pity for me to dove ...
That's why I decided to take some money in my hand, not least because of the really solid base of the guitar, and to adapt the guitar to my wishes. Ultimately everything was exchanged, which was not glued to the neck or body. Meanwhile, three Fender Tex Mex SingleCoils work in the guitar, the frets have been re-dressed and the side position, intonation and neck curvature adjusted again correctly.

After an investment of almost 300¤ (yes, calls me crazy) the Harley Benton again turned into one of my favorite guitars. Soundly the good piece, in my opinion at least, does not hide behind the much more expensive competitors.

In the end, I just have to say that when buying the guitar I NEVER had a thought about the fact that a product of the Thomann-Hausmarke really accompanies me for a long time and is always enthusiastic! In my opinion, this speaks clearly for the good basic quality of the guitar - despite glue wood! From me therefore an absolute purchase recommendation for the HBST20 :)

The initial guitar

xDD, 31.12.2009
This is the guitar that most will buy as their first guitar. For the price it is made for the beginning.

Pick-Ups:
I bought them at the beginning of 2007 in the set with the amp. I still play on her now and then. The Pick-Ups take a lot of background noise and you should not be near a radio source (mobile phone, cordless devices, etc.) or a PC, because then unpleasant noises from the amp come. However, realtively good sound comes from the pick-ups .

Fals, frets, machine heads:
The neck of the guitar is not too thick, so you can still drum drum grasp. The frets have an optimal height for beginners, so you can play well over the frets without disturbing them. Strings can also be put on well. But the mechanics are not very stable, so they were difficult to screw up after only one year.

Bridge:
A bigger stain for me was the bridge with the tremolo. Although it is nice to have a tremolo, but those who have used the tremolo often and pressed quite deep, the strings have been greatly detuned.
Besides, it was sometimes hard to get the strings out of the bridge. If you have problems, you just have to cut a small bass into the opening (where the strings are coming out of the bridge) and pull it out loud, so that the strings jump down. What I find good at the bridge is that you can adjust the string height.

Belt support:
The bracket looked quite stable at first, but after a lot of play the screw was broken. Was not so nice. You have to drill another hole, so you can hang the guitar around you again. But if the wood gives way too and the screw loosens, you can not even hang the guitar. Therefore, the screw must be fixed at the beginning.

Conclusion:
All in all, it is well built and at the beginning without blemish, but if you want to seriously play guitar, another guitar should grow in the future, or in these new pick-ups and a new bridge. So you can use them as a substitute guitar.
