Alone and with Helix
Boddumblues, 05.03.2018
I got this unit and hoped it would work for me, and it does.
I wanted the mic sim and line out to be before the the dampening,
and thankfully it was easy to convert it to this.
I did not want the line out and mic sim to follow the dampening.
I added a 25 k pot on the mic sim out to add more control. Now I use it with my Marshall 6100 head and a VOX AC-10 (with a speaker in mod), and am quite pleased. I do find that mic micsim signal kind of collapses. But when using the linesignal through a Behringer Ultra-G Di. box I have a beautiful full signal. Of course it would be nice to have the micsim do it, but the Behringer just sounds better in every way. For the price of the PA-100 and the Ultra-G and my mods, you have a package that is hard to beat. ;-)
I do run presence on 100% on the 6100, and raise the treble on the AC-10 but it's fine.

What this unit allows for also, is use of the lineout in different ways;
1: Load your amp into a Helix.
I have patches in my Helix based on a VOX AC-15, but if I want to have my real AC-10 replacing the modelling amp, i can patch it in via one of the loops (line level) and it works like a charm.
I hear my amp in real life, the FOH gets a lineout from the Helix with the real amp through the Helix, and then I play with IR's, mainly Celestion Blues and Golds - sweet!
2: Lineout + IR's
The lineout without the micmod can have IR's added (Moer Radar etc.) to add flexibility and quality to the sound. Even using my Digitech RP-155 just as a cabinet simulator opens up a lot of sounds.
So there are a lot of sounds waiting to be heard.
Also in a DAW. Cheers ;-)
03-07-2018 Update
I tested running a JOYO JDI-01 from the line out, and man what a difference to the mic-mod out it is, it really works now, the cab sim on the JOYO is sooo much better in fidelity, the AC-10 really shines through the mixer now. It also beats the Behringer in clarity (the Behringer only has 1 cab sim, a 4x12, the JOYO has a 2x12 combo sim and a 4x 12 sim), I am very very pleased with this new dicovery!

A little gadget that tamed my Fender Blues Deluxe. Great quality/price ratio
Andreablues, 22.04.2020
I purchased this attenuator after viewing several reviews online and it was a really good choice.

When I installed it I was surprised at the quality of the product. It's a cheap attenuator but it sounds really good.

I used it for taming the volume of my Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue and it did a great job. Now I can play at acceptable volumes and I can really hear the power amp section working properly.

The maximum level of attenuation silences the amp. At high levels of attenuation the tone is a little bit affected but it's great for practicing in my apartment (you can't replace the air that a blasting amp phisically moves and at low volumes we perceive sounds differently: The Fletcher Munson Curve). At medium levels of attenuation you'll find the sweet spot. At low levels of attenuation the amp sounds great, obviously.

I strongly reccomend it.

Thoman service was great as always

Great for direct recording
Ren Hoek, 19.05.2020
I bought this because I wanted to dabble with taking a direct feed from my tube amp into my DAW, and applying cabinet impulse responses for recording and playing at home. I'm blown away by how good it sounds and wish I'd done it sooner. I've used modellers such as Guitar Rig/Amplitube/Pod for this purpose until now and, while they're great, I never felt that it was 100% the same feel as playing through and listening to a proper tube amp. This, along with Two Notes' Wall Of Sound plugin running in my DAW, ticked all the boxes and has really inspired me to play much more.

The unit fits neatly on top of my amp head, and has the ability to run the amp with the speaker disconnected, or with the speaker connected and attenuated to a lower volume. I'm afraid I haven't tested it with the speaker connected so can't offer an opinion on that, but for direct recording via the line out it's been brilliant.

The only downside I found was the fan can sometimes squeal a little bit. Nothing too loud or particularly often, but it's a tiny bit annoying sometimes. It's easily masked if you turn up a little though.

In summary, for how much it costs it's a no-brainer. As I said, I wish I'd bought this sooner. Good work Thomann. #thumbsup

HB PA100
InDecember, 24.12.2019
I use the HB power attenuator to tame a 60 watt Engl Fireball tube head to levels suitable for home recording. It does exactly that and you get some extra nice features, like adjustable line out and xlr out.

The silent fan to cool the resistors is indeed silent but only once it's spinning at full rpm, when it starts spinning it makes a little squealing noises. Not loud, but noticeable.

As a test, I maxed out the Fireball and both attenuator and amp survived, while retaining a usable tone. I wouldn't try this on a 100 watt tube head though.

Only con I found thus far is the fact that there is no bypass switch, meaning once connected, you're attenuating.
Pro's:
Cheap, sturdy, much features, can't go wrong with this. And of course the usual great Thomann service.
