It gets 5 Stars from me
26.08.2014
I' really can't rate this high enough. Thru neck, natural finish that ticks the boxes for me. When I saw it listed about a month back I was impressed by the features and ordered it straight away.

Four weeks later it was in stock and delivered.Out of the box I was struck first by it's looks then by it's construction. The wood used for the Sycamore front and back is very nice, whether it's a condition at the factory or maybe I was just lucky it added to the already good looks of the bass. The high gloss finish was well applied and the hardware especially the bridge are solid,in fact the whole thing feels solid.
Set up was good, maybe slightly low for my taste but not an issue,no fret buzz or sharp edges.A small adjustment to A and D fixed the intonation and I was ready to plug in.

Input jack is a good tight fit with no crackles and all the pots operate smoothly and again no crackles.Nice defined lows and enough adjustment with the E.Q also I prefer a balance than 2 volumes. No hiss or hum evident.

It balances well and is a good weight, not heavy just a reassuring presence. The neck is a wee bit thicker than my Cirrus and it's slightly heavier.I'm comparing with the Cirrus as they are similar in style. The ebonal fretboard feels good and add this to the way it hangs you've a pleasant playing experience.

Summing up this is a well built bass with decent hardware, quiet electrics and sounds like a bass should. The mere fact that it looks, feels and plays like one at least twice the price is just a bonus.I'd recommend this to everyone.

Thanks Thomann I'm a very happy bass player today.

Great entry-level bass
Germerican Guitarist, 27.03.2020
Full disclosure: I've been a guitarist for over 15 years and I only recently got that itch to see what "4 string guitars" are like, so take this review with that in mind.

After some research and probably several hours of review videos on Youtube, I made the annual trip to the Thomann headquarters with the intention of looking at and buying a Fender Player's series bass. However, after testing this guy out in the show room, this is what came home with me instead.

I've never owned a Harley Benton instrument before this, but I will agree with the rest of the internet in that this is such a solid instrument for the price. It's certainly not top of the line, but it's hard to complain about push-pull active-passive pickups, 3-band active EQ, solid and heavy feel, and great looks for that price point.

The tuners could be a little better, but I've never had an actual problem getting this to stay in tune. And while it definitely needs a setup out of the box, the fret work and playability are great. There are couple of spots on the fretboard that seem to have snuck through QA, but it still plays just fine.

If you're looking for an instrument to get your feet wet with, this is definitely one to consider.

Wow!
JB Guitar, 16.08.2019
I’ve played guitar for 30+ years and decided I wanted a bass for some home recording I was doing. I looked around and after much research found this bass and said it’s for me. When it arrived (took over 4 weeks to get through customs in the US) I was shocked. It was beautiful and well made. One other thing was that it was IN TUNE! Amazing after all that time sitting in a box.
Once I plugged it in and played a few riffs that I know I was hooked. Not only does it look great but plays great. I even ordered 2 sets of strings to go with it as they were about 1/3 of the price of the big box store in my area.
Can’t beat the price and the sound. Buy it, you won’t regret it.

I played Fender Squiers of other people before, but this sounds better than those. I am very satisfied with the growl and tones coming out of this beast. For the price it was very well setup. (In my case) Immediately playable. The sound of the active pickups is versatile and quit musical, not super but pretty good. It has a nice depth to it. The three band equalizer and mix pot give you a ton of tonal options. You can pull the volume put to set pickups to passive. And then it still has a nice sound, just a lower output. The hardware is very usable, nice tuners that do the job very well. The body has a rustic natural look with a combination of two woods. I like the use of sycamore. Play ability is good and the frets and neck shape, for my long fingers is fine. Good workmanship and fretjob is almost perfect on mine. The roseacer fretboard still sounds fine, but I would have liked real rosewood.

Also some cons: the pots became a bit noisy after six months of use. When I rock them up and down a few times, they become silent again for a week. Probably needs contact spray. Profs would like to replace them at purchase.

For the money, you cant go wrong with this one. If your budget is a bit lower, a cheaper Harley or aSquier or similar bass would also do the job. If you have a much higher budget and demands, look upmarket.

This would make a great beginners bass, studio bass, or a backup for pro bass guitarist. Or, if you play gigs with risk of theft or damage, just bring this cheap one.
