Unpacking and spa

Woody59, 20.01.2016
For a single-O guitar, which is, so to say, only 3/4 size, it comes quite powerful and full. Compared to her full-mahogany sister M120 Westerly, she sounds somewhat brighter, balanced in the entire frequency range and not quite so warm and woody, but with its own charm. Only - lovers full of basses should look better in the Dreadabteilung.

It looks not only very beautiful, also the processing is excellent, I have in any case discovered no flaws. The factory settings are very good, the quality control of Guild seems to work very well in China too: simply unpack and play.

The spruce top is very fine-grained with medullary rays and makes a high-quality impression. Interesting, I found that in contrast to many other high gloss finishes the paint is quite thin, one can feel the grain well.
The frets are neatly dressed, the neck is comfortable to grip, the saddle and bridge are still bones, I'm sorry that the string pins are made of plastic and also look like (a bit cheap), which I will exchange for bone pins, possibly. This will also affect the sound.

Playing on her is just fun, it's a guitar, you just take it, flip on the sofa and pick it up. Handy, very good strings, very easy to play, also suitable due to the short scale length of 630 mm for small players / hands. Everything is just right. Due to the saddle width of just 45 mm, thicker fingers also have enough space ;-) - for fingerstyle, it is almost ideal, in the case of strumming one should hold back something, that is not so their thing.

The little one comes in a smart suitcase - no - Polyfoam with the embroidered guild logo, which has now overrun a fall of 1.5 m - including the contents without damage, the part is much more robust than it looks.
To the pickup system: It was a good idea of ??Guild not to disfigure the small body not a "frame radio", Tone & Volume are discreetly adjustable at the soundhole edge. The sound is - although typical Piezo - quite pleasant, there are certainly better systems, for rehearsals it is quite ok, otherwise for live gigs with Mike lose.

Conclusion: Great guitar, which is just fun, I am curious how it develops itself still sound. I would buy them right away.

A recommendation for fingerstylers

Torsten4318, 04.07.2015
I prefer fingerstyle and this guitar seems to me to be made for it. The neck is handy, the format is a mixture of C and D, with a tendency to C. The haptics are great and the sound pickup is quite identical. And everything remains so, also with the strings of changing suppliers. It looks great and is processed clean. If I like a nature finish, he has to re-orient himself here with shining taste. I have the guitar now a scarce month and although I like to test and very meager, I find no reason to send them back. What a pity ...
