Sounds great but looks.... not so great.

08.11.2016
This is my first hollowbody Gretsch guitar I have personally owned and it is a dream come true. For a long time I wanted to buy one but they always seemed a little bit out of reach because of the price tag.
It arrived safe&sound, was packed very well, the setup was well done, intonation and action was perfect - thanks thomann!
As soon as I took it out of the box I could see that it is not perfect. There are no major flaws or dings in finish, hardware is right in place but what it lacks is attention to detail. Pickguard has bits of plastic hanging from it that is not cut off, neck joint is horrible - there are wood splinters visible under the paint, some parts under the joint are not even covered with the finish, binding is badly done - the same goes for F-holes - horrible. People are going to say that - "it is only 500 eur/dollar guitar what do you expect?". Well all my 350$ Epiphones, Ibanez look better. Parker could make flawless guitar for the same amount of money - so it is possible. It would take 10 mins to fix these things in factory before the finish is applied.
But it is not all that bad - the hardware on it is great and works great. Playability is 9/10 and the sound is exactly what I was looking for so despite all the flaws I'm going to keep it. Broad'tron pickups sound good, you can get all kinds of sounds from these and they still give you that classic gretschy sound. It is a full hollow so be aware that it feedbacks like a monster but if you learn to control it it can handle even high distorted sounds.
Overall if you dont pay attention to the flaws (that you can only see if you play it or come really close to it) it is an eyecandy that feels, plays and sounds great! I hope that Gretsch steps up their game a bit with quality control because other brands prove that it is possible to make a great instrument for even less money than this.

Best Value Gretsch

niallc24v, 07.04.2018
I have had this now close to 2 months and I can confidently say that is one of the best lower end hollow- body guitars I have owned.

Also to note a lot of people will say these style of guitar will go out of tune because of the bigbsy trem arm, and that is not true. As long as your not trying to do Steve vai dive bombs on this thing it will stay as sharp as a whistle
