Great guitar for the money
Tangled up in blues, 05.11.2017
First off, particularly if you're an admirer of Keith Richards' open-G Telecasters, this really is a great guitar for the money; that's not to say it was perfect straight out of the box, but any glitches encountered were minor and easily resolved.

I'd read some very good reviews of the G&L Tribute series in general and the Bluesboy in particular, and on the evidence of this guitar I'd concur with their verdicts. It looks stunning, plays and sounds well and offers very good "bang for the buck". One reviewer felt that the neck humbucker was a little under-powered/ muddy compared to the bridge single coil, but they sound fairly well balanced to me. The finish was pretty flawless and (with the exception mentioned below) the build quality was also very good.

So what were the glitches? Well, the action was fairly high and the intonation wasn't perfectly set on a couple of strings, but those issues were easily sorted. More surprisingly, the nut came off the jack socket the first time I unplugged the guitar; the wiring was very tight, so it proved to be a frustratingly fiddly job to get things screwed back together properly, but once sorted the problem hasn't recurred.

Bottom line - whether you're looking specifically for an affordable take on Keef's legendary "Micawber" to fool around with, or more generally for a versatile Tele (with the neck humbucker offering a different tonal palette), the Bluesboy won't disappoint - it really is a lovely guitar, especially at this price point.

As ever, service from Thomann was excellent.

Brilliant guitar, better than a mex
27.09.2014
Well, i may not have had this guitar for long, but oh my god it surprised me straight out of the box, just the look of it in the flesh OOZES quality, and then i picked it up, i've played more since getting this guitar than in the 3 weeks before! the neck has a kind of unfinished, satin-ey feel to it, really smooth, no sticking to the neck when you don't want to! the frets feel a little larger than fender frets but i'm not 100% sure if that's fact, just feels nicer in your hands. the body was finished perfectly, no blemishes or anything, not much to say other than beautiful! there wasn't much to do in terms of setup, other than lower the action a little, but that's just personal preference! i couldn't wait to plug this baby in, and i wasn't disappointed! the bridge pickup has that classic tele sound, although i'd personally say that it is a slightly hotter, more bitey sound than a standard tele. The neck pickup just sounds lovely, i was originally planning on swapping these pickups straight out for some SDs but no, these will do nicely, easily my favourite telecaster after 10 years of searching!

Good Value
Jon J., 25.06.2015
I bought this guitar for use in a 10 piece soul band to replace my beloved Strat which is getting old and out of breath. I have to say that although the timbers are clearly not top notch it plays brilliant after minor set up. I don't know how they do it for the money to be honest

Just Brilliant.
26.07.2016
Iv read so many good reviews about these guitars. Did quite a bit of research before going ahead with my purchase. I can safely say this is one of the nicest guitars in its price range. Period. The build quality is excellent. far superior to its rivals in this class and price range. I have played a few Fender classic vibes and Ibanez which are similar in price but non of them come close to playability, durability and sound.

The only thing I would suggest changing is the Nut. it feels and looks cheap. (it is plastic) so I would swap it with a higher quality one. However, that is only minor and the rest of guitar is flawless. Pretty heavy on the lacquered finish but you can still see the wood grain rather well.

If you were to take the Indonesian sign off the headstock you honestly could not tell it apart from a £500-600 instrument. It is honestly that good!

Overall the guitar looks amazing, is built extremely well and sounds sublime!

I would recommend this to anyone who wants a extremely versatile guitar for very little money!
