The guitar looks just as beautiful as she does in the pictures, a nice pale body with a beautiful grain. The fret board is a bit lighter than in the pictures but still very beautiful.
The knobs are quite big and the tip of the pickup switch was not screwed on correctly so i just screwed it on and now it's fine.
Hardware seems sturdy and nice and shiny but the tuners feel a bit light, i'm not sure how i feel about them.
Overall i can't find any other flaws in fit or finish.

This guitar plays like a dream, the setup was absolutely perfect and every note rings out beautifully.
The sound is very balanced across the fretboard.
The biggest sonic improvement I've noticed over other guitars is the high end is much more open and it has a better ring to it overall.
Neck seems a touch bigger and wider than most modern guitars but it's still very comfy.
This guitar is surprisingly light and very comfy on the strap but it hangs higher than most guitars so you might need a longer strap.

The instrument came with a beautiful leather hardcase but the locks seem a bit flimsy. Also comes with a strap and a picture of your guitar right of the production line.

The Futuristic Guitar

The explorer has been around since 1958 and over the years has become an icon. This 2019 may not be one of the ultra rare korina ones but it sure looks the part. Attention to detail is very good. The guitar has a beautiful body and matching neck with the classic hockey stick shaped neck.

The case is beautiful but it is very big. It is bigger than a firebird case. The guitar sounds very powerful when turned up and cleans up well on low volume. It an axe for gigging, but also an iconic guitar for bedroom players.

Thomann's customer service, communication and delivery was the best i have experienced, especially in view of what is going on around the world at the moment.

If you buy this guitar or any other guitar my piece of advice is buy it from Thomann as you will not be disappointed.

I love it

This is my second Gibson Explorer.
It's beautiful, the wood figure is simply astonishing, the shape of the neck is perfect for a smooth and fluid playing, it balances very nicely... I always liked this guitar, and this one just made fall in love with it even deeper.
I had installed on the other one the 490T and 498R pickups (like in the LP customs) and I love it but I have to admit than the Burstbucker that came in this one are a beautifully sounding pickups too.
It comes with a sturdy and good looking case, which the guitar fit perfectly.
Altogether, 10/10 for this one.
I'll be buying more in the future!!!

Gute Explorer
CT2020 22.04.2020
