Great way to prolong life of your strings

VitalyG, 09.01.2018
I have been using Fast Fret for years now. It keeps my strings from drying out and helps me slide easily along the strings as well as feel slicker which makes it easier for me to play. It is also possible to use it after you finish playing to wipe off all the ?dirt? from fingers. Simple chemistry, as I would say. In my opinion this is the best string cleaner I have ever used. It includes the applicator and a cloth to wipe off the excess oil which both fit in a small plastic tube that can easily fit in a guitar case pocket. I really like that it lasts a long time. I have had my previous one that I use for 2-3 times a week for about two years in a row. So I think that this is great thing for its money. Just imagine ? one can for 2 years or even more!
I use it for my basses and guitar. And it perfectly works regardless material of strings (tried with nickel, chrome and steel) and roundwound of flatwound. Great thing is that it does not affect fretboard material ? maple, rosewood, ebony? It makes it in good shape anyways. So you may no worries for your oiled maple fretboard.
I found it a bit easier to use than cleaner by Dunlop because the applicator stays wet for all time, no need to shake as with Dunlop bottle.
It is definitely not the thing that make strings last forever, but it can helps out for gig or some demo recording if you need strings to sounds almost like new.

You should use this after playing if you sweat like me

Paul1347, 05.09.2017
I don't have too much of a sweat problem on my hands , it's more my head that ends up dripping , but I have been using this stuff for a number of years and I think it does help to prolong string life and keep them sounding bright. It can help with making the strings slicker too for slides etc or power chord riffs .

I have noticed when I have bought it in the past that it has come in a plasticky type canister which I did not like as much, when I bought it from thomann it has come in a tin, which I think seals better thus prolonging the life of the mystery white mineral oil that is impregnated into the cotton type fibres.

Overall I have always been satisfied with this and it is the modern equivalent of the mystery oily rag that my uncle passed down to me to wipe his hagstrom III from the 60s down with, . I use it every time I play my les Paul's or strat and it does seem to keep the strings sounding good.

THERE IS A CON THOUGH, albeit a small one , when you use it it can leave cotton bobbles on your strings that can sometimes be hard to remove, I think these are from the stick/ wick whatever you call it, plus the small cloth. MY REMEDY is to use a dry paintbrush especially kept for this purpose to brush up and across the strings removing the dreaded bobbles. The added bonus is while doing this you can also use it to remove dust dry skin and other unpleasant particles from under the strings, round humbuckers etc, so it's a win really.

For the price this stuff is a no brainer
