The Best care for wooden instruments
Bastiaan Anthonie Baaij 23.10.2020
Sorry to say, but I have never been a huge fan of brands like Dunlop etc. Its nice for marketing mainstream. But when you rely wanne buy a product to taking care or your wooden instruments, I tend to look for brands that focus themselves on expensive wooden instruments as such a viol or other related instrument is.
This Viol Cleaning fluid is the best cleaning and finish repair product I have ever come across. And so to say I stumbled on it while extending my search in the Thoman list of finding a better product then all the screaming marking brands like Dunlop.
I have a an Alhambra Jumbo 3 with Fishmen pro element, bought in 1997 at Cassa Ben&Elly in the Hague. This wonderful sounding and looking guitar has seen a lot and I mean a lot of situations so keeping it proper with TLC...It needed some real care. This Viol Cleaning fluid together with Bellacura Sensitive will now become my main products to keep my instrument in perfect state for even more years to come.

So thanks you Thomann for having this product in your list. I wish it will be found more and more. As this and the Bellacura are prodcuts that truly care on the maintenance of quality wooden instruments.

Wish this review has been of support to making a choice in your new purchase of maintenance products for your wooden instrument.

Cleans and shines
Anonymous 01.12.2015
I chose this cleaning fluid after I wasn't able to simply wipe the collected rosin from various areas of my violin. Rosin is such good yet annoying stuff. It gives you your tone on your violin, but it gets everywhere even when you're using it sparingly.

The Viol fluid is the answer to your problems. It's always good to try the fluid on a small discrete part of your beloved violin to make sure that you don't have any negative effects. After that, just a drop goes a really long way and you can clean all the worst parts of rosin deposits from your instrument. The bottle is quite small, but 1 drop really does go a long way. It's really tempting to use lots of it and to try to polish your instrument back to a high gloss, but I think this would be a really bad thing to do especially on older violins. My violin is only a couple of years old, yet I still try to only use this cleaning fluid when I really need to.

It's really good to treat yourself to a super deluxe micro fibre cleaning cloth too. You can generally wipe most of the rosin off and then use this Viol just when you really need it. Your violin owner in a few hundred years time will really appreciate it and you won't have worn away the finish with over polishing.

Very useful product
Michael C. 3 26.10.2016
This is a great product for cleaning violins without the worry of damaging the varnish. I've used it on several old fiddles to give them a new lease of life. It's great at getting rid of grime and build up from sweat on the instrument that has accumulated over time. I have also used it to clean some of my students violins when changing strings for them. It really does make the instrument look like new and on older instruments it enhances the beauty of the antique look. I highly recommend this product.
