Sturdy guitar case for a reasonable price

Granted, a gig bag is usually perfectly adequate for transporting a guitar. For instance, when the instrument vanishes beneath boxes and cases on the tour bus on the way to the gig, or if it needs to be stored under optimum protective conditions over a long period of time. The Gator GC-Electric-A Guitar ABS guitar case, with its shell made of impact-resistant ABS plastic, robust aluminium strips, and firmly locking latches, offers the optimum solution for transporting or storing your favourite instrument safely, at an extremely attractive price!

Custom-built for Strat and Tele

The experts at Gator offer a large number of custom-made cases for almost every type of guitar. The GC-Electric-A Guitar ABS Case was developed specifically for the legendary Stratocaster and Telecaster models and is designed to accommodate instruments of such and similar design. The instrument should have a body length of approximately 48cm, a height of approximately 7cm, a width of approximately 32cm, and a total length of approximately 100cm. A solid handle is attached in an offset position and ensures that the case and its valuable contents can be carried horizontally. Thanks to the aluminium strips on all sides, you can also accidentally bump into obstacles without causing any damage. The interior contains an EPS foam core covered with velvety-soft plush. Besides offering the perfect fit, complete with neck support, the soft material also protects the instrument perfectly from scratches. In addition, two storage compartments are available for keeping important accessories, such as cables or tuners.

A case with a hard shell and soft core

The Gator GC-Electric-A Guitar ABS Case is suitable for all musicians with a Strat, Telecaster, or an electric guitar of similar design who travel a lot and attach great importance to the safest transport possible. Although hardly more expensive than a decent gig bag, this case offers considerably better protection and is the ideal companion for beginners on their way to the rehearsal room as well as for professionals whose instruments tend to vanish underneath a mountain of band equipment on the tour bus. The sturdy handle allows the case to be carried in an optimally balanced position, while the precise fit of the EPS foam used virtually pulls the instrument right in.

About Gator

Gator, or Gator Cases, is an American firm founded in 2000 by father-daughter team Jerry Freed and Crystal Morris in Tampa, Florida. Initially, Gator began with a modest range of moulded plastic guitar cases. From there, they expanded the product line to include case and bag solutions for the whole field of instruments and equipment. A wide variety is covered: Instruments, microphones, and all aspects of live performance, including lighting equipment. At the same time, products for other media areas such as photo and video are also available. All products are made of high-quality plastics, wood, textiles, and EVA materials. The Gator companies also include flight case manufacturer Viking Cases and guitar strap manufacturer Levy's Leathers Ltd., as well as Gator Rackworks and Gator Frameworks.

For the gig, the trip to the rehearsal room, or for safe storage

The Gator GC-Electric-A Guitar ABS Case shows its potential mainly when transport requires a bit of rough handling. The hard and shock-resistant ABS plastic shell can withstand even the hardest of knocks effortlessly, and the robust aluminium strip fitted around the rim ensures that the three latches are perfectly aligned. If, on the other hand, the instrument is to be stored for extended periods in the cellar or the rehearsal room where conditions are not ideal, it can be kept safe and protected from external influences over a longer period of time, embedded in soft plush. Naturally, the GC-Electric-A Guitar ABS Case is also equipped with a lock to prevent unauthorised access.

Good for the money
KostasL 23.07.2019
It fits my Charvel nice and tight and this is the most important. It has two side pockets inside which are useful and it has a soft furr. The plastic outside is not the strongest nor the thickest one. But im not banging it around. I believe it could break if you hit it hard in a corner but it will keep the guitar safe.

Good case, but it could be better
Funeral Musician 13.01.2024
First of all, it is a much better case than the SKB 1SKB-66, which costs more but is rather flimsy. This Gator feels noticably firmer, and it closes properly: there is no need whatsoever to fiddle with the lid, trying to align it with the bottom. Also, unlike on cheaper alternatives, the hinges and the latches on this Gator are chrome- rather than nickel-plated, so, in theory, they should more effectively resist the oxidation process. Despite the over 4 kg weight, the size-to-weight ratio makes it feel quite light and easy to carry. The only drawback in that area is the hard plastic handle, which, to those of us who carry our guitars long distances, might lead to blisters (I always generously wrap these types of handles with electrical tape to prevent this). Inside, we find a pleasant surprise — no bad odors! I have a very keen sense of smell, yet I could not, for the life of me, detect any odors. The black plush interior is soft and cosy, and the material seemed well applied. I did not notice any shedding either. Having closed the case again, I noticed a very smart detail: the perimeter of the ridge on the top of the case is slightly larger than that of the ridge on the bottom, which means that these cases are stackable. In other words, if you placed two or more of them on top of each other, they would interlock, and the upper ones would not slide around in your home or vehicle. However, despite all the praise I have given it, when it comes to quality, I would have still rated the case 4.5 stars because the badge on the lid was crooked, and there were some scratches on the sides as well as on the aluminum trim. To sum up, if Gator tightened their quality control just a bit more, this case would be a no-brainer. In the end, I decided to return it, but I would still recommend it to those who do not mind small cosmetic defects as much as I do.

The paint on locks went off after a couple of usages at home
JOleg 31.10.2019
So the silver color locks are actually with some chrome-looking thin layer paint or whatever it is. It just went off and under the paint there's some orangish rusty looking metal. I didn't hit it anywhere at all. Used it very gently, at home only. Unfortunately I don't see any way I could attach an image here.

Other than that, so far, it is okay, I like it. I'm just wondering what else can come off.
