The power station can be mainly used for three applications: Power reduction of powerful amplifiers without the disadvantages of conventional power attenuators; as a gain for small amps; and as a high-quality, adjustable reactive load for silent recording
Stepless power reduction
Line In for preamps, laptops, MP3 players etc.
4/8/16 Ohm separately switchable amp input and loudspeaker output, so that any amplifier and speaker can be matched
Reduce or increase the power of small amps
Effective sound control for adjusting the sound to a strong reduction
Natural playing feel via the reactive load - dynamic feel of the amp is retained
Input level range switch is well suited for use with vintage non-master volume amp heads
XLR balanced out
Silent recording function also without power supply and a connected speaker
Weight: 6.8 kg
Dimensions (H x W x D): 91 x 355 x 228 mm
4, 8, 16

"All in One" Ger t
After I was a long time looking for a suitable Powersoak for my Marshall top parts, I had after extensive reading of various reviews in the net and partly also tried out the devices, for the TAD Silencer decided. Although all my amps have a master volume, but then again comes a lot more tones, if the power amplifiers are somewhat tickled. Thanks to the passive operation of the TAD without problem to take and connect. Bonusfeature is that I can also play without box in the PA or the DAW (resistive load). So far so good, also a Rivera Rockcrusher I had in the test and the TAD liked by less sound distortion and generally always open sound.
Now it is here to the Fryette go and not around the other devices. One thing was clear, in Powersoak I was provided with the TAD. But what I missed more and more was a resistive load that allows me to reproduce my amp / box combination as real as possible. What is possible today with Impulse Responses is the absolute madness! Now the resistive load in the TAD already sounds very good, but a reactive load as it is installed in the PS-2, is also not the turn. The sound simply becomes more open and lively. In comparison, I also had the Suhr Reactive Load and the TN Live test. All very good and only marginal differences, which can be adjusted and compensated. So that was the first argument away from the TAD to the Fryette.
Now to the second argument, the Powersoak / Attenuator. Unlike the TAD, the PS-2 does not simply amplify the amp signal, but converts it completely into heat and amplifies the pure line signal with its own 40W tube amplifier! As an old Marshall El34 user I was somewhat skeptical as 6L6 tubes with a JCM800, Silver Jubilee or JMP would tolerate. Contrary to all doubt, the signal comes unadulterated and quite on the contrary even more voluminously back into the loudspeaker box. Due to the various possibilities, I can combine every guitar, every amp and each box very well and adapt different sound levels (Fletcher-Munson effect).
The third purchase argument and also criterion for me was the FX Loop. Since vintage amplifiers mostly do not have a loop, but I would like live and at home to like effects (delay etc.), this feature comes as called. It is even possible to select whether rack equipment or standard effect pedals (level) are ground. Sound again nothing negative can be detected and although I am already very carefully.
That was my part. Who needs Reamping, thanks to the built-in amplifier also has its fun. Who only plays with preamp (Kemper and Co.), the device can also be used wonderfully as a neutral tube stage.
Looking at all these features and in this regard the price, you can definitely not complain. Sure, no cardboard, but fair for what you get offered.
