great components in low cost cabinets
intrancewetrust, 09.06.2019
The sound of these monitors punches well above its weight in terms of cost, Focals experience with 6.5" cones is probably unparalleled , and cheaper overseas manufacturing brings them down to low cost studio levels. The place where the cost cutting shows through is the cabinets, which produce annoying buzzing and rattles from the bass port which I would assume is some sort of resonance inside the actual box escaping through the rather generously sized reflex ports. This is something I have also observed in really cheap "studio style" monitors, however since the Focals are front ported its quite prominent.
It's probably something that can ignored once you are used to it, and the sound is really fantastic 99.5% of the time. The controls aren't exactly comprehensive but they are good enough. I have decided to hang onto them despite this slightly irritating habit which probably says a lot about the sound quality! Its good and cheap enough to earn them some brownie points for sure.
Now I know that if you are fussy, it would have been better to spend maybe 2-3x the cost to get something in the next tier of price/quality where the manufacturer has the financial allowance to iron out all the creases.

Truly Amazing Studio Monitors!
Murti, 31.01.2019
For 2 years in a post production sound studio (heavily focused on foley), I used the Alpha 80's so I was familiar with Focal Alpha range sound. Alpha 80's were fantastic for almost every audio purpose. Detailed, crisp, deep, balanced. Those were the words that could define the Alpha 80's. Then I left the studio and left those beautiful Alpha 80's.

Nowadays, I needed studio monitors for my home studio for electronic music production. I searched, listened and tried some studio monitors like Adam T7V, Dynaudio BM5 MKIII, Hedd Type 05 etc. I really loved the Hedd's but I couldn't afford them. Then I remembered those Alpha 80's that I have been used in the studio. Alpha 80's were too big for my room so I decided to try the Alpha 65's. I was not surprised. That perfect sound was in those Alpha 65's too. So, I bought them.

Pros: Well balanced and detailed sound, superb soundstage, front bass reflex port, bass and treble adjusting knobs.
It fits every genre and this is really crazy. Orchestral/classical, jazz, pop, electronic, rock/metal etc. just whatever you want to listen to. It sounds insanely good. Sounds that kind of good but not colored. Neutral and detailed.

Cons: Absolutely none.

I would recommend these fantastic studio monitors for almost everyone. If you have a small room, you might consider the Alpha 50's. Otherwise, Alpha 65's are the best choice.

The best speakers you can take in this rage
RSEQ, 13.03.2020
Clear sound and high, powerful low. Everything you need to produce at home and even in the studio. If you are looking for studio monitors at a 250 euro price - this is the best decision.

I'd start by saying I spent about a month researching what would be the best pair of studio monitors for my 20 square meter room. A lot of the reviews I read online pointed me in the direction of Focal. The Alpha 65's are beasts - impressive sound quality across the board. From subtle basslines at low volume to incredible soundstage across all genres (but especially electronic music, which I love), they just have it all! I can't stay at home without listening to them :)

can't recommend these monitors enough - if you have the budget, just go for them. Nothing beats them at this price point (even beyond).
