I am happy...

mhc , 15.12.2017
... the first time that I can say that about a pickup.
Both sound exactly as promised. I once had a guitar with EMG81 / 85 pickups - that's no comparison !! Back then I switched to passive quite quickly, which is a good decision, but which one ...? I have tried almost all of Dimarzio's product range. Even Seymour Duncan, diverse - in principle, anything that is not high-output. Please do not get me wrong, I also play a lot with highgain, but in my opinion too much output is often too much in just about every other place. In fact, Dimarzio Crunchlab / Liquifire and DP190 / 191 were my favorites so far. Now comes that I also use single-coil split very often, even this in high gain. Well, humming is just a part of it, here you can turn off the Zerrer sometimes short and targeted to allow the break, that's not the problem. No, I was annoyed that the Curnchlab always sounded a bit 'covered'. DP191 / 190 have, split particularly, produced a bass that came close to the limit of my speakers. Now my setup with an Engl Raider is pretty heavy anyway in terms of deep mids and basses. I tried EQs for weeks - I did not get happy. Why am I telling this, now in my despair I thought maybe what Greg Koch is showing off in all the videos is also a help for me. Lo and behold, it fits. The basses are still heavy but controllable. Overall, everything is much quieter, cleaner. You can still hear every movement, even in highgain you can see the individual strings of a chord.
I can not keep the voices apart too well (at least by name) - one is just thicker in the middle, a nice boost. Or, I adjust EQ and amp so that the more relaxed voicing sounds good after single coil. Now if I switch to the other voicing, it's a humbucker. Without getting louder, just thicker. Perfect for me. And that applies to both positions. I have made next to the voicing circuit even a single coil splitter so switchable, is also good, but here is output difference for my purposes again a bit too strong. But I'll leave it that way for the moment.

My rating here, they do not sound a bit cold or harsh. Everything you do is transferred cleanly. They are unsuccessful, but still have a strong character. I would describe him in Voicing (let's say 1) as a very open, clear twang and not too weak but still breezy basses. In the stronger Voicing (that is 2, presumably) something centered to the point. Invites you to just click on a crunch channel ACDC licks to stick, but still not too potpfig. Everything stays clear and crisp .... Adjectives spam that have nothing sound to do to describe sound - I'm sorry.
I want to say that you can not hear actively, except that it is just peace and quiet. I can only recommend it to try, in my guitar will stay long.

Installation - here comes the catch. Although there are connectors, but soldering is still announced. Anyone who has ever changed a pickup will also create this installation. The instructions are generously described unfortunately only a Wiringliste and only for a LP-E compartment. So 2x Vol, 2x Tone. Now I play a PRS with one controller each. But of course it is still possible, either Google (which is not quite as fast as usual, the pickups do not seem to have found much appeal) or, with some experience, the head ;-) A push / pull pot can certainly switch the voicing for both pickups, then both are always in the same voicing. It does not matter to me. But the possibilities are enormous, I have found in the network a guide on how to also Coilsplitt hinbekommt without problems (btw., The buzzing then a little, but far less than normal split pickups).
There is the option of HF Tilt as a switching option, which means to switch it separately or just with another option together, and it removes the highs. Not quite, but it was too much, even in the gravel. What is not quite clear in the manual, just allow the wire to pile up isolated = no HF tilt. If you cling to the mass = on, raise / lower.

Apart from the thin manual that stands against a huge amount of possibilities I can only report positive things. The price is high, admittedly, but they are quite imo the value - I would even say bargain.

Spacing comes to my mind, in my PRS it is usually better to choose "F-Spaced", which means a slightly wider polepieces. These are great, every string has a screw. In direct comparison, hold side by side, Fishman seems to have chosen a middle ground to cover all Spacings reasonably. For my part, however, I do not attach too much weight to this, as long as all the strings are evenly heard. That's the case here, I guess that at most extreme cases dance out of line.

Thumbs up and bye ...
