Great little amp!
AGuitarPlayer, 07.08.2019
After years and years of using multi-effects pedals and various VST guitar programs/simulations for ''bedroom'' playing and practice (I use Mesa Boogie Mark IV for live applications), I wanted to get something with a better, more natural and ''Fenderesque'' sound. I've stumbled on this amp- it looked good on paper, I've listened to dozens of video clips on YouTube- it sounded promising, so I've decided to give it a go. I wasn't disappointed!

Overall, the amp sounds really good and responds nicely on the picking dynamics, making it a pleasure to play. If you are into Fender amp clean/crunchy tones I think you won't be disappointed. Second channel offers plenty of ''Voices'' suitable for various genres and it basically got you covered. I found some of the voices there very inspiring to play, especially when paired with a suitable guitar. Although the amp seems to be playing the Jack-of-all-trades card when it comes to sounds, those responsive and warm Fender clean/crunchy tones are its stronger suit I think, although it does a pretty good job with those hi-gain voices also, intended for modern styles. I found myself often using my Music Man guitar on bridge humbucker with the Voice 13, which sounds very well suited for lead playing.

Digital effects are a nice and useful add-on, as it is the USB connectivity feature with Fender Fuse software (which I did not use myself, so I cannot comment on that. One warning though; although the software is still available for download, according to the software's page it is ''no longer actively supported by Fender'', meaning that ''Fender no longer offers technical support for issues arising from the installation or use'' of the software, so maybe that will be an useful information to you if you are buying this amp particularly with software use in mind). Also, although the amp offers Hi-Gain voices intended for modern styles like Metal, since I am not into Metal music I cannot comment on how well suited the amp would be for that particular genre.

All in all, I am quite pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone who wants a good small amp with inspiring Fenderesque sounds for home and studio use. I am not sure how well would these 15W manage in a live setting with a full band, but when it comes to the home and studio use the 15W are more than enough (I rarely go over 3-4 on the volume).

So in summary, pros; has some great and inspiring sounds, a variety of voices covering various styles, has decent digital effects, lightweight.

cons; it would be better if the first and second channel had separate bass/treble controls, the footswitch for changing channels and turning on/off the effects is not included (you must buy it separately).

Practice amp? Yeah, right...
HeartLander, 18.04.2015
Keep calling this amp a practice amp, then take it to a small/medium stage and blow yourself away. The Super Champ might be small, but its sound is huge, vintage and definitely louder than any solid-state amplifier in its class. My glass door tends to dance like Shakira when the volume knob goes beyond the setting "4". It's also a good thing that the back of the amp is half-open, creating a more space-filling sound instead of just front-directing it. A big plus: the speaker is connected to the head through a jack on the back, so you can hook it up to a larger speaker set if you wish.

I have used the amp with an acoustic-electric guitar as well and the results are not bad at all actually, rather clean and warm. If you want to record yourself, keep in mind that the Super Champ loves to have a microphone in front of it. Go for a Shure SM57 and your job's done.

It carries a lot of sound variations, plus the (not-included) footswitch is a must-have for switching fast between its channels. Do not get fooled by the digital effects or its usb connectivity. It's a guitar amp, not a Playstation. If you want to explore different sounds and you use several guitars, go for separate effect pedals.

The overall build quality is solid, the mesh soft material in front of the speaker could be better though. The switches turn smoothly and the amp overall is not that heavy. The use of a standard power cord, similar to those of modern TV's and desktop computers allow you to carry a spare at small cost when taking the amp on the road.

I use the amp at home for practice, I consider myself an intermediate guitar player.
Really love the sound of the clean channel. Has some great effects and some modulated amps. Great amp for a beginner guitar player that wants to spend a little more for valve sound, it really is special compared to fully modulated amp sounds. You can't just beat valves when it comes to sound quality and clarity.

Misses some effects that are better for beginners starting with electric guitar, so they can simulate sounds of known songs. But with some patience and tinkering you can get many different sounds only with the amp. If you pair it with pedals it'll be more versatile.

Happy with the purchase, would recommend it to anyone.

Fantastic practice amp...and much more
Denis1969, 27.09.2015
Sounds fantastic at low volume and responds very nice to picking dynamics. Also loud enough to cope with a polite drummer, especially if he (or she) plays with brushes :)

It is solidly built, I just wish it had normal rubber feet on the bottom of the cabinet instead of tiny metal ones.

Hooked it up to FUSE software, and saw that the mids on channel 1 were at maximum. Lowered them to around 5,5-6, added a touch of reverb on some effects and I'm done with tweaking.

I prefer channel 1 so far, great blackface sound especially after lowering mids. Voices 2, 8, 9 and 16 are very usable, too.
EDIT:
after some experimentation I returned the mids on channel 1 to somewhere between 9 and 10...works great with a archtop, especially ES-175.
