Fantastic bass

06.11.2015
This bass is finished perfectly and plays like a dream.

The heavy maple body makes this the heaviest bass I own and it may be too heavy for some. That's the only perceivable bad point in my opinion. However it rewards with great tone.

I also have the blue Steve Harris edition and although this is not as expensive it is a better bass. If you are an Iron Maiden fan and a bassist you really should buy this!

Watch out Steve - I'm coming ...!

MaKe, 24.03.2017
As an Iron Maiden fan and bass player (at that time still without his own bass), the Steve Harris Preci was immediately obvious to me. Visually, he immediately impressed impressively, and when trying in the shop he liked me immediately. When I finally got my own bass (Thanks to the Thomann team for fast and safe delivery), I immediately had to unpack the bass and have to check it out completely.
The paint finish is flawlessly applied, and the West Ham coat looks just super (better than any other football coat of arms). In the dashboard you can really reflect yourself, and it looks simply hammergeil.
The tense strings were normal standard E-bass roundwounds, but in the front compartment of the gigbag was a welded set of Rotosound SH-77 Steve Harris signature sides. Even with the cheap supplied sides, the bass had a good sound, but with the Signatures the sound was simply outstanding.
Very successful I find the solid bridge, which colors the sound very percussive and beautiful. At the beginning I had to adjust the string position and the bundle cleanliness, and the setting was very simple and short, thanks to the included Allen key.
Another positive feature is the throat, which is somewhat thicker compared to the "normal" fenders. Since the neck is slightly thicker, but has the same fretboard width as the standard bass, it is perfectly in the hand, and I do not have to constantly play with the thumb rest. This makes it much easier for several hours to play the signature strings, which are very strong, and the feeling is strong but light.
The mechanics are somewhat (as expected) slightly difficult compared to guitar mechanics, but absolutely tunable and very robust.
The pickup is sonically convincing and also easy to adjust. Compared to an average P-Bass Pickup, the Seymour Duncan SPB-4 has a much higher output (similar to an active American Standard Bass). When the strings are low, the striking of the strings and the strings striking against the fretboard / strings are perfect. The electronics are flawlessly processed, but the tone pot did not have to be soldered into the circuit.
Also the supposedly high weight of the bass is with a slightly wider belt no problem (2-3 hours at the piece of bass playing is definitely possible). The maple body further enhances the sound, and with the right equipment, the bass actually sounds almost like Steve Harris (the final touch is the bassist from xD).
Overall, the sound is very powerful, and even with very small speakers and an EQ setting with bare basses and mids, but lots of treble, the bass sounds powerful and energetic.
The Fender Straplocks (do their work well), an Allen key for setting the bridge, the Signature strings and a gigbag, but at the most a provisional transport solution.
With this bass, Fender has created the most perfect bass in my opinion. Compared to the American Standard P-Bass, there are no drawbacks, and the approx. 450 ?, which is more expensive to the Steve Harris signature than the standard-series basses made in Mexico, is definitely worth it. The playability is simply outstanding, the bass has an absolutely convincing sound and the price-performance ratio is perfect. It's not just Iron Maiden fans who can give this bass the right sound, but for every Steve Harris fan this bass is a must-have. Up the Irons !!!
