In all honesty, I bought this guitar after a few too many drinks. HOWEVER, unlike the hangover, I did not regret it in the slightest. One of the best colour schemes on a guitar i've ever seen, and plays as beautifully as it looks. A very good model with which to start learning or improving guitar, even if you didn't really know you wanted it. (Which you now do). The service from Thomann was also incredible. I love this Tele.
There was a time when cheap entry-level guitars were just crappy, close to unplayable. Happily those days are gone.
I wanted to try the cheapest Squier there is and wanted a butterscotch blonde Telecaster. This one was really a no-brainer. Buying a cheap guitar without testing is naturally risky, but with this one you really get a lot of instrument for a little money.
My guitar plays decently and has stayed in good shape. No problems whatsoever with its neck or other parts. I can set it up to low enough action for me (I however play with heavy gauge strings and do not care for super-low action). This one also sounds quite enough like a telecaster should - not greatly though when compared e.g. to my other Tele, a 1983 Squier JV, but nicely.
There is one thing I'd done differently. I'd selected a more traditional model tele-bridge. Top-loader is OK but I don't like the flat plate too much.
This is an instrument of elegant simplicity and directness of delivery. I am using it in conjunction with a Roland Cube 40 and the results are excellent. Personally, I prefer its simple lines to those of the Stratocaster, and I think I shall return to this guitar over and over again. The colour is also very pleasing to the eye. I am used to a darker fretboard, but I shall soon get used to this feature, moreover the instrument is very pretty. All in all, this is very good value for money indeed.
