Great budget/beginner guitar!

RennyS, 26.05.2017
I bought this guitar to start learning and I was blown away by the quality of the instrument!

The guitar was setup very nicely out of the box and held its tuning very well, the electronics all worked perfectly and still work perfectly to this day after over a year of usage now. The pickups are not great, however considering the cost of the guitar, they still sound good.

The strings that came on it out of the box were not that great and I would recommend swapping them out, but they did the job.

The finish on the guitar is flawless, no marks or scratches anywhere and the scratch plate looks far better than it does in the website pictures.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this product for people who want to start learning guitar!

The Squier Affinity-a solid base

Lukas999, 06.01.2012
After playing a good 2 years acoustic guitar, I wanted to broaden my musical horizon and ordered the Affinity Strat.
I did not have particularly high expectations, because quality usually has its price.

When I unpacked the guitar, I was surprised for the first time postitv because it looked much better than on the picture. The 70s headboard is in my opinion a very nice design element.
The film on the pickguard was a bit scratched, but it is also there to get the damage and after removing the film, the pickguard was faultless.
The neck is smooth and unmarked, the same applies to the fretboard, cymbals, mechanics and lacquer
After more than a month, I still have not been able to detect any processing errors.

The first allusion sounded quite promising. The guitar was factory-set quite well, only the E-string snapped something.
I would have looked at a guide to solve this problem, but I searched the carton in vain. But did nothing further, because who ordered at Thomann yes Internet and can make itself smart. Something like that is also no astrophysics and can also be beaten by completely uneducated homeworkers (as by me);)
The tool for adjusting the neck curvature and the octave purity was there and I could quickly fix the strings of the string.

Sound and playability:
After this problem was fixed, I could still deal more with the beautiful sound of Strat.
The 2 Singelcoils sound fine and warm. The humbucker delivers the desired power, but leaves some clarity due to the design (see conclusion).
I do not regret having chosen this pickup camera, because it makes it extremely flexible. Apart from metal everything is in it.

The strings are pleasantly low and together with the thin strings create an extremely easy playability. (Good for all beginners)

Clean as well as distorted makes the Affinity a sovereign job, and at least my instrument sounds very balanced and amazingly high quality.

The small flaws:
The tremolo is unfortunately not very tuning stability, but I think you can not expect that for the price.
The strings are a joke, but since every guitar player has certain strings, they are exchanged in most cases.
I will do elexir strings and is good;)

For beginners, this instrument is highly recommended.
With increasing abilities the demands will surely increase, but the start with some modifications can be adapted to these requirements.
Since it is neatly processed (wood, neck, etc.), it is a good base for the humbucker, for example, to exchange a bit too much. I thought of a Seymour Duncan.
Even if you consider the additional costs for decent strings and other pickups, you get nevertheless with this guitar an instrument, which is then not only for bloody beginners worthwhile.

Only those who are on excessive tremolo use should leave the fingers off this squier.
