Good guitar for the Money
A. j M., 07.10.2019
This is a great guitar if you're up for some mods.
First, by itself, the guitar sounds great, no complains. The single coil has that classic Jaguar voice that is simply to DIE FOR. Just for this, it's worth paying the money. I wouldn't change it, or maybe for a matching SD Antiquity, but only because the latter is waaay up there in terms of sound.
The HB is OK, but the output when split is really low (like, really). Which makes playing in the middle position quite unbalanced if the HB is split. I will change it with a SD P-Rail ASAP, and add a on/off/on switch in lieu of the current on/off toggle.

Now for the trem and bridge: I like the fact that they updated the bridge with this hybrid jaguar/mustang bridge. The strings don't pop out of the saddle as much as in a regular jaguar/JM. However, I will STRONGLY advise you to get it set up by a pro, that knows how to deal with offset Fender guitars. You can try yourself, but you'll probably never get fully rid of the buzz. And the buzz is real with this one. Real and multiple: it comes from the bridge not being dead straight, or the string gauge being too low, or the little screws being lose, or even the strings vibrating on the intonation screw... Anyway, you feel the pain.
The Trem was not as pictured (for the Sonic Red version) and did not have a lock button, it was quite disappointing and Thomann made me beg to only offer a 50EUR discount, when a replacement for the actual pictured bridge was 90EUR. Not really satisfied, but it was that or sending back the guitar, which I didn't want to do.

Overall product is quite cheap-made (and cheap-priced, so no complains), too much plastic - I would have liked the original chrome plate (but really wanted this H/S config), could have easily paid an extra 50 for just that, which I will do anyway upgrading the pickguard :). Inside, the pots and jack connector are of low quality as one would expect. But that's also an easy upgrade.

In the end, I recommend it. Just know what you buy - a 700-EUR Squier with a Fender logo and Fender pickups. The wood grain on the neck, for me, is wonderful! The Pau Ferro fretboard is good, don't trust Forums and test yourself. It did look weird, like unfinished, when I received it. But a little oil and a lot of playing made the fingerboard smooth as hell. And the 24" scale is the stuff. I mean try it out, it's a breath to play. But having a Fender that cheap means you care less if you drop it or scratch it a little, and give you a very nice mod platform that can also be used out of the box. Just swap those factory strings for 11's (they will feel like 10's on a 24" scale) or even 12's if you're into heavy grinding!
