Die Mex. 72er CUSTOM hat in dieser Hinsicht meine Erwartungen echt übertroffen. In der PU-Mittelstellung bringt die Gitarre den typisch brillanten Tele-Attack, durch den Humbucker warm und breit gefärbt, ohne dass das Ganze verwaschen klingt. Ich spiele die Tele über einen VOX AC30, habe inzwischen mein gesamtes Effektboard abgebaut (abgesehen von einem Volumepedal) und habe jetzt genau den Sound, den ich immer gesucht habe...

Dass die Verarbeitung mangelhaft sei, kann ich nicht bestätigen. Ich habe die Gitarre allerdings erst seit ca. 2 Monaten - bisher sitzt alles fest und ich konnte keine Mängel feststellen. Richtig ist jedoch, dass nach Auslieferung noch ein bisschen Feinjustierung nötig ist - das ist aber in ein paar Minuten erledigt...

Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig ist für mich der PU-Stufenschalter, der -teleuntypisch- wie bei der Les Paul oben am Korpus sitzt. Kommt schon mal vor, dass man beim Spielen unbeabsichtigterweise den Schalter umlegt - ist aber wohl eben Gewöhnungssache!

Ich hatte noch die FENDER ROAD WORN PLAYER TELECASTER als Alternative im Visier (auch SC/Humbucker und die gleiche Preiskategorie aber eben im ganz klassischen Telecaster-Look). Klingt auch verdammt gut - ich hab sie aber nur im Laden getestet und nicht über mein Equipment. Custom 72 fender mex

The positives of the Fender custom (MEX) 72 are:
- A particularly vintage sound, and bluesy
- Fairly lightweight, with perfect balance in strap
- A versatility thanks to the simple pickups (bridge), and double (neck), which allows both the vintage sound quite funk and the fat sound on the radiohead.

The negative points :
- A gain (despite the double microphone) not very precise
