Great guitar for J.Hetfield fans

Deiecide1, 04.03.2018
I bought ESP LTD Snakebyte black about 2 months ago and have been using it every day since then for at least 30-60 min. per day. I must mention that I don't play in bands anymore and use it for playing at home just for myself.
The general impression from the guitar is great still, though I've got used to it a bit I still get the feeling of satisfaction when I pull it out of its case.
Feature-wise the guitar is equipped very well, it has a locking bridge and a locking tailpiece from TonePros, which is great for keeping your setup even when all the strings are off. The locking tuners are also a great addition, which adds to the tuning stability and the ease when replacing strings.
The choice of woods (though it's hard to see under the coating) seems quite nice as well, at least judging by the tone and that the guitar is much lighter, than the Explorer I have.
The ebony fretboard is also a great addition, though this is a bit biased as some people don't like the feel of ebony.
Regarding craftsmanship I must say the guitar is not 100% top notch condition as it came with a few blemishes in the paint and a couple of scratches, but nothing too outrageous or worth worrying about.
From the peculiarities, which one has to get used to is that it has two volume knobs and no tone knob, which was a bit awkward at first, but once I got used to it I actually prefer this layout as the pickups are really bright and you get a bit of distortion even on the clean amp channel, so when you need to switch from playing riffs to cleans it is nice to set up the volumes on the bridge and neck pickups and then just switch between them, while activating the clean channel on the amp.
Otherwise there's not much of features, like floating bridge or push-pull knobs, it's a straight forward axe for playing heavy rhythms.
Another awkward thing was that the guitar is not too comfortable to play sitting down, though it has a cutaway on the top right corner for the elbow, still it feels like it was designed mostly for playing standing up. By the way at least in my case when standing up it's very nicely balanced and doesn't crawl up or down, but when sitting down I constantly have to pull it up a little as it always tends to slip off my knee.
Lastly, what lets the guitar down (and I would say this is the only issue I really hated) is the crooked volume pot knobs. Both were not set straight and to be honest with the split shaft pots it's mere impossible to set them straight. This bugged me so much that I ended up buying satin black pot knobs and solid shaft volume pots and replacing these, so now everything is straight and exactly as it was meant to be. I did go to one of the local guitar stores, which stocks an Iron Cross and Vulture (both LTD) to see if it was just the case with the knobs on my guitar, but it seems they all have the same issue.
Otherwise I'm really enjoying holding and playing and simply looking at the guitar every day. It makes we want to grab it, which is the best thing one who plays a musical instrument can wish for.
Would definitely recommend buying one if you're into rhythm playing and you will definitely enjoy it every day for years to come.
