Epiphone BB King Lucille Ebony
Electric GuitarFor B.B. King, she is the love of his life: the Gibson 355 Lucille. Epiphone is now offering a version at a really attractive price but that still gets the sound of the master succesfully across - assuming you have also a bit of feeling for the old blues. The basic sound is round and fat but slimmer sounds can also be employed with the VariTone control, which is a nice addition to the normal pots and which many guitarists (wrongly, we think) simply dismiss as 'dull-sounding' and ignore. To achieve yourself the typical B.B. sound you'll need: a fairly turned up, yet rather clean tube amp, both pickups on, and both volume pots turned so far backwards until the guitar "sings" without distorting.
