Amazing!

Florian S, 20.03.2016
I have been playing the Rockmaster now for almost two weeks every day, at home, in the Proberaum and also live. For this I use partly a 1x12er with Greenback and a 4x12er with V30ern. I can only say absolutely great. It's as good as anything an average musician could wish for, thanks to two channels, which can be wonderfully controlled from crystal-clear to high-gain, so just do not let the name "Rockmaster" make you feel insecure. The 3-band sound control also works excellently and there is even a digital reverb, which, like the amp itself, sounds really neat! Here, only two small things interfere with each other: the lead channel has a separate volume control for both channels as well as the master volume. In itself a nice idea, for me however not really useful, since this has only fully rotated the same volume as the clean channel has. From the sound there is no difference. There is also the mid-boost controller, which is probably for lead parts or similar. is provided. In my opinion the amp sounds in the "normal state" relatively middle-poor (depends, of course, on the taste) and more modernly gevoiced. Therefore, I have activated the mid-boost permanently, since this produces a somewhat fuller and more vintage sounding sound. But he still does very well both. On the back there are also various possibilities including an FX loop, an Emulated Direct Out and two foot switch options once Hall On / Off or FX Loop On / Off and then Mid-Boost On / Off or Channel Change. Lastly, there are still the speaker out's, which each have an impedance of 8-16 ohms, also a useful feature. Of course, not to forget the built-in power attenuator: The options are Full Power, 5 Watt, 1 Watt and Speaker. It is noticeable to me that with the same reduction in the performance of the same performance with decreasing performance always sound worse. Full power is self-evident on bedroom volume even with a 20 Watt Amp already somewhat dull and dry. The 5 watts are better for this, it is noticeable that some bass is lost, but the overall picture is naturally brighter, which sounds even on a slightly higher volume still very good. Disgustingly, it is then only unfortunately at 1 watts of power. The sound is thin and scratchy, almost completely without bass. Since the lowest volume is already loosely regulated with the 5 Watts without it sounding dull, this feature is again not really needed. The speaker from option does what it should. Maybe good to the recording over the Direct Out, although I found this over a PA tested not really good. But why, if you already have such a good sounding tube amp. Altogether, despite a few unusable features for me, the best sounding, most flexible and by the way also only the most compact or lightest amplifiers. Thumbs up!
