Exceptional sound and quality.
Windle, 09.08.2018
I bought the ENGL Metalmaster for one reason, to get the very best heavy metal sound with ease. It delivers this exceptionally well. A good clean channel was also required, where some other manufacturers can be a little noisy, the Metalmaster is fantastic. Very clean and can add a little gain to add shape to sound if required.

The Metalmaster does lack headphone output and AUX input (easily overcome using an audio interface) for those who are practising quietly at home , or require silent practice. These are features found on comparable amps by other manufacturers. The power soak function does allow full power, 5 watt, 1 watt or speaker off which is excellent. This amp was bought for its sound alone, as it is incredible and very easy to dial in straight away and the lack of features with certain aspects can be easily overcome with an audio interface.
The amp has been used for blues, rock, heavy metal. Sounds great for all types. A lot of tonal possibilities.

Aesthetically the amp is very pleasing, extremely good quality and solidly built.

Packaging is fantastic, very securely packed.

Thomann's service is fantastic, shipped same day even though order was placed near to shipping cut off time. And 4 working days later I have my order in the UK, from Germany.

If you are looking for that heavy sound, with many possibilities look no further than the Engl Metalmaster!

A small Eng (e) l, not just for the home!
Harry83, 22.12.2015
There are three top parts, which are accessible for each band. A JVM, a first generation Valveking and a Fireball.

In 99%, I decided for the English at home, I always played over the Pod X3 of Line6. The modeling always resembled an Engl. Now I wanted also the real sound, for at home, and ordered me the current Metalmaster.

After 2 days came the package with me. When unpacking, I noticed that the amplifier was super packed. For all those who are concerned about sending a tube amplifier by post: "Do not worry, there can not be much happening!"

I joined the small to my 4 x 12er box, from line 6 on. At the first time I thought to myself: "Finally the sound I always wanted!"

Now to the functions, clean:

The sound control is self-evident. First, I set the amp clean. With the Clean Gain control at 9 o'clock, you get nice clean sounds. And Clean is clean here! At 12 o'clock, then the surprise! The amplifier easily starts to tug, and sounds really British.

Lead: In the second channel, you get the typical Engl sound as you know it. Just like that, I've imagined that. Anyone who plays in a top 40 band, or just loves the Engl sound, will enjoy the amplifier!

Who thinks 20 watts, would be quiet, who should play him at a 4 x 12 box. Quiet is something else! Thanks to Powersoak, you can still play him at home. About my box, I had him, however, until now, no more than 5 watts run. And only to test times how loud you can go. For the apartment, 5 watts, definitely too loud !!!

Unfortunately, I also have a negative point:

Engl unfortunately does not provide the amps without a foot switch. One should, if one does not switch with the hand, still an extra foot switch buy. I took the Z-4 ??from Engl. But you can use all other two foot switches.

Summary: Who is looking for a versatile sound, for home, and on Engl, should look at the metalmaster more closely!

Clear purchase recommendation!
