While Electro Harmonix is renown for original and spectacular effects, with the Switchblade, they offer something purely practical: With the Nano Switchblade you can connect a guitar to two 2 amps, or two guitars to one amp - the signal direction is not restricted. Affordable and convenient.
EH Nano Switchblade is a simple 2-channel switch with two outputs and one input. This can be reversed so the outputs become inputs and vice versa. You can engage one output or the other but not both at the same time. There is one foot switch, which toggles the channels. The switch is perfectly quiet - if your amp volume is down, you will hear it in the room but, unlike other (poorly built) channel switches I've used, no click comes from the speakers.
Unlike its bigger sibling, the Switchblade +, this little fella is not a true bypass unit. In theory this is a serious downside but in practice all that matters is if loss of signal occurs. Well, it doesn't - not to my rig, at least. I couldn't detect any. In my opinion a more serious shortcoming is the absence of an LED to show which channel is active. This can be annoying, especially in the middle of a live set. On the other hand an LED would require power, albeit a tiny amount, which would mean adding a battery compartment and a DC In socket - and they have obviously decided to keep it simple.
I would recommend Nano Switchblade to anyone who wants a basic, cheap and cheerful, good quality 2-channel switch in a robust die cast box.
