Sweet sounding and sturdy

Soundseeker, 13.06.2017
I've tried a lot of guitars in past few months, and I have to say that the sound of this guitar stands out.It has very pronounced middle range. At first it seemed to me that there was some volume to be desired, but than I tested it against Sigma omr-1ste.When I played them alone,Sigma seemed a bit louder. Then I tried playing along CD.I cranked up volume on my stereo, and Sigma didn't cut through the mix, probably due to it's rosewood back and sides that scoop mids.Eko,on the other side, with it's midrangey sound coming from sapele back & sides had much more presence, and was heard through the mix.I would reccomend this guitar for playing single note leads in an acoustic band.It also worked well for strumming and fingerpicking, although the bass is a bit stronger,so you need to control it better. The guitar is pretty sturdy built,I think it can handle gigging very well. It's heavily braced, maybe even overbraced in my opinion,so it's stronger, but with less bracing I think sound would be better. The neck is very chunky c profile, again,it's sturdy, but for me a little uncomfortable.Maybe someone else would like it,it's a personal thing.Tuners are very smooth working. The guitar I got had few minor quality issues-the plastic plate inside that holds wires to the side was detatched, and fretboard had some scratches, but I don't think it's case with other Ekos,so qc could be better. There are two things about this guitar that I think are problem:Bridge pins are ebony, and they chip off bit by bit every time you change strings,so pretty soon you'll have to replace them, which is maybe not a big deal, but still, plastic ones would be better, and the saddle is slanted towards the 1st string, and it sticks out of the bridge low,not leaving much room for lowering the action, unless you replace the saddle too.If you don't think this is a problem, then this guitar is definitely worth checking out.I was going to keep this guitar despite all these things, but it just didn't agree with my left hand,so i gave it up.
