EBS MultiComp SE

Effect Pedal for Electric Bass

The Swedish company EBS has existed since 1988. It caters primarily to the needs of bass players, and since the staff is rumoured to consist of bass players themselves, it is not surprising that products are developed to leave the hearts of bassists excited.

Especially with regard to effects devices, bass players were most often neglected. A major problem has always been the fact that most effects deteriorate the frequencies precisely in the range that is crucial for proper bass guitar sound, namely in the low frequencies. So it is of little surprise, that the EBS-effects are really unproblematic in that area and otherwise have a lot of really interesting features to offer as well.

THE best bass compressor

James K., 24.04.2018
I bought this pedal after reading many reviews here on thomann and also watching videos, such as the thomann video on top compressors.
I am NOT dissapointed, the pedal is great and simple to use, there is only 2 knobs, COMP/LIMIT and GAIN, a switch that switches between Normal compression, MultiBand Compression and Tube Simulator Compression, There is also a switch on the side to select between active/passive instrument input and inside the pedal there is 2 trim pots (these only affect the multiband mode), there is space for a battery inside however space is quite tight inside the pedal (possibly the only negative issue I can think of). The footswitch is one of the new "silent/non-click" switches and feel very nice and sturdy under your foot.
Although all three modes work well (Normal sounds very Bright, Multi Band is quite mid-punchy, and the Tube Simulator Mode has a nice warmth) my personal favourite is the MultiBand Mode.
In MultiBand mode, as the 2 trim pots inside the pedal are both set to 12 o'clock, you can set the Compression slightly higher on the pedal (mine is set to 2 o'clock and the gain is set to 12 o'clock).
The red LED shows exactly how much compression is being applied (it blinks brighter the more compression its applying).
Aside from making my sound more uniform and punchy overall the pedal does not colour my tone in any way either positively or negatively which is great, I also do not hear the "pumping" noise you can get using some compressors.
This is a great pedal, although its a little pricey its definitley designed by bass players for bass players and I will enjoy using mine for years to come.

Great Compressor, not getting another one ever

OsBassZen, 09.06.2018
I got this pedal and it's so good I'm not buying anything else, and when it breaks and cannot be repaired, I'll probably buy the same one over again.
