Super allround pick
My fundus on different picks is great, especially I have tried over the years through all Jazz III variants. Again and again, I was back to the classic, the red Jazz III, because it was the best all-round pick for me. There were times that were better for fast solos, some that allowed a finer rhythm, but none fulfilled the sum of all requirements so well.
Well, I am writing in the past, because I think that this year I have two picks, which are better than all-rounder, namely the John Petrucci Primetone Jazz III to be rated here as well as the unsigned Primetone Jazz III.
Both are made of Ultex, have chamfered edges and sound (clearly) louder and lighter than the usual Jazz III. Compared to the non-signed Primtetone Jazz III, the JP variant is slightly thicker and has a raised lettering for the gripping instead of the ripple. I personally like Letzerer better, the rippling is simply not gentle enough to my fingers ;-).
Conclusion: If you like the Jazz-III format, you should test both the John Petrucci Primtone Jazz III reviewed here and the unsigned copy. Strong recommendation!
