this is my first bought slide - I made my own as a broke teenager from sawn-off bottlenecks - and I'm happy with it.
I've got to admit, the handling is awkward - but then again, I haven't played with a slide in at least 10 years and I never was a pro at it. maybe a longer slide would work better, but that's what everyone has to try out for themselves. I bought this one because I have very skinny fingers, don't want a long slide and like the chime-y, singing quality thick slide walls produce.
The sound is gorgeous though, and for me that's what counts. I can learn how to use this slide, just like any tool. And when the angle is right, and the movement is smooth, this baby sings. It's got a real smooth, warm, round, mellow tone - like an ondes martenot, or a female singer. if you want the typical rough blues sound, I'd go for a different material. This is perfect for luscious and blissed out chill-hop, psychedelic fuzzy madness, shoe gaze, ambient, dreamy-indie...I think you get the idea. All in all a good slide and I'm happy for the price.
update: my mate, a very good slide guitarist, recently was recording a track at mine. he used this slide and complimented it, saying it was the best he'd ever used. ha!
