It all depends on what your goal is. If you want a use the slide just occasionally and spend the other time playing with all four fingers like you normally do - then this slide is for you!
It can't work as well as full sized slide because this can cover 3 strings at very best, but for sliding on one string to bring a new colour into your playing - perfect!

Dunlop 204 Short Glass Slide
I am unaware of any rival to this product. It's comfortable and the only really SHORT slide I have. I don't consider myself an expert slide player, but this is fine for "Messing around" on a few strings at a time without having to take it off to do a bit of fingering as well.
