Very (and I mean VERY) hot pickups, especially neck P-pickup, bridge J-pickup is not that loud. Relatively bright and punchy, with nice mid-range growl, these pickups also provides wide dynamic range. They react really good on HOW you play. And they cut through the mix really well. You can adjust individual pole pieces according to your neck radius and also you have different wiring options (series/parallel) for wide variety of sounds.

But not every instrument will benefit from that powerfull pickups. I bought these pickups as an upgrade for my fretless bass, and they've been too much for it, too "greedy" for my taste, especially for fretless instrument with epoxy coated fretboard and nylon wrapped strings. I mean you still can dial sweet mellow tone with that volume and tone knobs, but then you just don't use those pickups for their full potential. So in the end I just kept em for future use, right now P-pickup (which seems to be just DiMarzio "model P") is working in my P-bass project (well, actually Harley Benton kit) - and it really shines there.

All in all - this is great sounding pickups with nice features.

Q
Bought for a custom bass build
Qourthon 29.12.2017
These pickups were bought for a custom bass project, inspired by the 80s B.C.Rich Ironbird Bass. Since it was originally fitted with these pickups, I could not go wrong.

They deliver a low-mid punch and cut through the mix great. The sound is more on the darker side. The great feature are the adjustable pole pieces, not common on modern-styled pickups.

Not giving 5 stars because there is no limit for perfection

Good for fretless
Anonymous 31.07.2015
Have used this set for a fretless Warmoth bass.
I like the sound both passive and partically with an Aguilar OPB-3 preamp - not too aggressive. The possibility for series/parellel switching is nice, it can be used to get very different sounds.
The P-pickup is louder than the J-pickup - but that should be quit common for this configuration.
They are well made, and I like the look and the adjustable pole pieces - eventhough I haven't used that feature.

Great sounding bass pickups with lots of warmth and clarity
William2096 25.11.2014
I bought these pickups as i wanted my ibanez gio bass to sound clearer and more bassy. The pickups arrived on time and my friend installed them for me, on the first go they didnt work because he soldered them badly but second time and they work perfectly. The pickups dont distort as easily as the stock ones i had do and the bass now sounds a lot tidier in my recordings, it picks up the highs really well so you can get the attack. Personally for under 100 pounds i would say these are a really good choice of pickups and you should get them!

These pickups fits perfectly to my Fender Precision bass. The sound is amazing but I had to balance the sound between the bridge and neck pickup, because the neck pickup is much more louder from the bridge pickup. I recommend this item. It sound very nice.
