A fantastic minimalist looper
28.07.2014
The JamMan Express is a fantastic little box that's great for when you just want something with simple looping, unlimited overdubs and an undo function, without all of the extra stuff that you get on the Boss RC3 or JamMan Solo. For a minimalist device you still get some nice features like stereo looping and JamSync, but these things won't get in the way if you don't want to use them.

If you can't decide whether to get the Express or the TC Electronic Ditto, I have both, and here are the key pros and cons compared to the Ditto:

Pros:
+ Silent Clear
+ Stereo
+ JamSync
+ Battery power option

Cons:
- not as small as the Ditto
- the LED on the Ditto flashes at the start of the loop, nothing like this on the JamMan

Silent Clear was the deciding factor for me - you cannot clear a stopped loop on the Ditto without it starting up the loop again for a second. However, there's no doubt the Ditto is much smaller and somehow cooler, and I do find the LED flash at the start of the loop helpful.

JamSync is nice if you need it, although it takes a bit of practice to use. Stereo and the battery option are there if you want them. For my usage, if it wasn't for the lack of Silent Clear I'd have the Ditto, but unless TC upgrade the Ditto firmware to support it, the JamMan Express is the clear winner.

Good looper but not very durable
freakinpete, 03.04.2019
I purchased this looper to use with a Digitech SDRUM pedal. It is a very simple, easy to use stereo looper with a single footswitch, so it's very simple to operate.
The sound quality seems to be good but my issue was with the build quality - the 3.5 mm jacks for the jammsync connectors seem to be surface mounted to the board and I managed to break one by inserting a cable once. So beware, take care when inserting jammsync connectors and consider an alternative product if you need something tough.
