Just what I was looking for! Great quality AND very economical!!! The wheel works great on smooth surfaces as well as the cobblestone streets of Lisbon.

This wheel has saved me a lot of work dragging my bass around during the last years. for transportation you need to exchange the endpin of your bass for the wheel and then off you roll. It took me little while to learn how to navigate and probably still looks quite funny to people who are not used to it, especially if you are in a hurry trying to catch a tram or so. what i don´t like about it: sometimes the wheel twists (if the endpin screw is too loose, it can also loosen during transport sometimes) the wheel will twist. as you can't see how much it twisted because obviously your bass is in the way you will most likely need to put it down to readjust. if you are on a train you always need to stand with your bass because you can´t lean it into a corner as you usually would because of the wheel probably starting to roll. Still a very handy thing, much more comfortable than carrying the bass on your shoulder!

Good idea, not great quality.

These wheels are a good size, not too large or heavy, and the inflatable tyre means that bumpy pavements don't cause a problem. However, I have two issues.
1) the shaft is perfectly round, which means it spins around when in position.
2) the metal shaft isn't strong enough to last more than a few years. I have now had the second one snap whilst walking along. The first time both bass and I went flying. I assumed it was from a freak batch and bought a couple more, but after this second time, I'm not risking damaging the instrument or myself again.

Bass wheel, thank heavens.

As a working bassist I have carted my bass around all sorts of venues. A couple of years ago I used a suitcase trolley, before that I lifted it bodily. I had seen bassists using little tiny wheels and others with wheels built into their cases. It all looked dodgy and expensive.
I thought I bet Thomann have something for this.
What you get here is a big wheel, it fits into the spike hole on the bottom of the bass. (Don't forget to take your spike to the gig).
It is large enough to get you anywhere, even downstairs if you are careful and is a joy to use. Suddenly all the effort of moving a Double Bass around is minimised.
Terrific piece of kit. Best thing I have bought and recommended to all bassists.
