Great pickup for a live setting
ellaplayscello, 15.10.2018
I originally had the Band Headway pickup for my cello which worked fine until I joined a louder band, where it started to feedback a lot more than it ever had before. So, I did a bit of research and came out with either this or the DPA. I settled on the Soundclip and I'm delighted I did.

This works incredibly well in a live setting, perhaps if you're in a group on a small stage. It's resilient, tough and easy to use. I paired it with a Fishman DI which works amazingly well overall. While the sound isn't amazing, it sounds like you would expect a normal electric cello to sound like.
I would definitely recommend buying it if you're going to be doing a lot of Tina Guo-esque performing but don't want to splash out on a Yamaha electric cello just yet! ;)

Really great
Jonas145, 18.02.2012
The sound clip already makes a lot of stuff. The cardboard box has an astonishingly high weight, which is immediately connected with the turmoil of quality and stability.

In addition to the clip is also a small pocket in which the clip is well protected and a small hook-and-loop tape to attach the instrument cable to the string holder to avoid unwanted noises.
However, you have to experiment a bit until the cable really does not make any noise, but you have a good position for cable and clip found, then you get a really great sound.

In general I can describe the sound as very natural, whereby the deep strings are somewhat emphasized (as the clip is attached to the Stef under the C-string) I personally feel this as a pleasant. You can also "smooth" this emphasis relatively easily with an EQ.
I also tried the Sounclip over both guitar and bass amplifiers as well as over the PA.
In the amplifiers, of course, the frequency spectrum is never really "clean". The guitar amp lacks depth, the bass amp at highs. (Of course the personal preferences and the musical direction are also decisive here. For one or the other, an amp may be the right choice).
At the PA, however, the pickup goes to full size. The sound is (as already described above) very direct. Really interesting is also the setup with one or more effects (I prefer guitar floorboards). The best sound over the PA was also achieved when playing with effects.
Also against feedbacks I feel the clip as relatively insensitive (whereby acoustic instruments, of course, always more times times feedback than their corresponding E-variants)

I can recommend the clip for all cellists who want to play not only classic music. It is much easier to assemble than most of the alternatives, and it is a bomb festival.
