Excellent true analog synth!
I was not very happy with hybrid Dave Smith synthesizers in recent years. They sound a bit digital to me.
But this new OB-6 changes my view of Dave's synths.
OB-6 just a real analog monster.
It differs from previous DSI synths to SEM oscillators and filters that give a unique sound which we remember from the old analog Oberheims.
OB-6 has incredibly convenient control of all parameters.
No deep menus, all parameters controlled by hands very quickly.
Don't even need to read the manual, if you know the basics of synthesis, you will create your sound for 1-2 minutes.
With OB-6 you can easily create great pads, leads and bass in various styles: electronic, ambient, techno, funk and fusion, dance and other styles.
There are 500 ready factory sounds for various styles and 500 sounds you can create your own.
OB-6 can sound very powerful and deep or can sound very clean, soft and transparent.
The "unison" function allows you to combine up to 6 analog voices in one voice and then the sound becomes incredibly powerful and panchy.
OB-6 can sound very different, depending on what you need.
A very cool feature is "detune", which loose the control of the pitch of each analog voice and creates a unique "drift" analog oscillators.
A very useful sequencer and arpeggiator.
The synth made and assembled very efficiently, side panels made of natural wood. It looks very nice!
Potentiometers with smooth motion and with no backlash.
What's not to like: there is no desktop user manual. There is manual only for the keyboard version.
When you turn off the unit there is a loud click.
Also I would like to have a multitimbral mode in OB-6, but it will be cost much more and i wish a second LFO. Now, for second LFO i can use OSC 2.
Overall, this synth is very great!

Expensive/beautiful sound/tricky
I realise now that I have been trying to recreate the OB6 with my other synths over the years. It is incredibly expensive for me and I am a little taken aback by what I have done. I don't need to think about sound design or creative possibilities because it feels and sounds right. I play with it but it sounds fantastic right away. I get anxiety with wobbly knobs and I felt so relieved when I used this.

the sound is very close to the vintage oberheim modules i have but has the added modulation options i always wished they had ,overall a pretty impressive module

Wow!
I love my OB-6. I regret buying the module version because I'm a keyboard player and I don't like taking the extra step of connecting a midi keyboard to it just to play with it. I love it so much that I'm going to buy the keyboard version and sell the desktop version

Raw, raw raw...
I just love the raw, slightly unhinged nature of this synth - it's something that you need to tame at times. Just superb. Interface is great as well, very user-friendly and straightforward. Excellent job by DSI. Also, excellent packaging by Thomann crew.

Like I have my old Oberheim back after all these years
Short review, but the sounds are amazing. Easy to program and definitely the old SEM sounds. Great sturdy build, and overall a great collaboration between two synthesizer greats.
