strings for life

I refuse to put anything else on my guitars after first trying them. Super smooth feeling, and for me it's the perfect tone. They are also very long lasting and durable, they collect much less dirt. Can only recommend.

F
time for some swampy blues
Flughorn 24.03.2020
These strings i bought for a stratocaster-type guitar. I like the resistance and response that thick strings give while playing.
This set brings out a a sound that i would describe as very heavy blues tone esp. on then neck pickup. The bright nature of the string material (stainless steel) seems to compensate very well for the more dark sounding tone of half rounds. This shines trough only on clean or slightly overdriven tones. With more distortion the difference to roundwound strings diminishes. The overall balance of tension and tone is surprisingly even across all strings. Although i am used to roundwounds the difference of how the winding feels was not an issue. Finger noise from sliding over the strings is a bit reduced but not absent. However i never liked the feel of stainless steel which somehow reminds me of old damp rusty strings. This is a subjective issue and has nothing to do with sound or quality of the strings.
If the thickness of the strings suits your playing i would encourage you to test them out.

Smooth But Bright
davii 29.04.2014
I strung a set of these up after refitting an old Strat with Seymour Duncan SSL-4's, with an expectation of a strong, but less bright sound than normal.

They turned out to be pleasantly bright, with a clear clean sound, and comfortable. Certainly worth trying if looking for a smoother feel, but don't want go as far as flat wound strings in fear of losing brightness.

Mixed experience

I put it on a semihollow but didn't like the sound or the feeling.
I'm used to thomastik swing flat wounds, so I might be biased..
Maybe I'll give it another go in the future..

not my cup of tea
Nickwolf 15.03.2019
I have used flat strings for jazz and of course normal strings... this thing in between is strange and i couldn't stand the feeling in my fingers... I don't know... I will not but them again. but it is a matter of taste I guess.

Best electric guitar strings
DPWG 07.11.2022
I do a lot of studio recording and I hear very little difference between these half rounds and regular wound strings. These half rounds get rid of all string noises and sound great. All of my electrics have them. They also last longer. Only good things to say about these strings.
