I have been playing all types of whistles for a long time but never a low D whistle, so i done some research and came across the Chieftain custom low d, so i took a chance and ordered one,
Pros- beautiful looking, nice weight, and a superb deep sound,
the holes are closer together so making it easy to handle
Cons- price was more than i ever paid for a whistle but worth every penny,

Gutes Instrument - mit Schwächen
WhisT, 06.09.2020

Superbe instrument
A. Mah, 06.03.2021

A good low D
Dumbledorf, 25.06.2020
The top notes in the second octave take a bit more power to play than I'd like, otherwise I think this whistle plays well enough. It has more back pressure and requires more force than some, but it's not a problem IMO.

The sound is a half-way compromise between "open" and "veiled", which is why I chose it. It's dark, but still with a hint of top end so it's not totally dull, and with just the right amount of chuff and wind noise to give it some character. This is what I think a low D should sound like, if your taste is different, pick something else!

The build is top notch, and it looks and feels great.

It's not a perfect instrument, but it's mostly good! All whistles are compromises anyway, so don't fret about minor imperfections, just pick one you like the basic tonal character of and accept it for what it is!
