It takes time and we have to guess how to proceed, otherwise it is useful!

Aherofluo, 07.07.2015
Since the documentation is non-existent, it is not known at all how to proceed. On the promo video of the product we see that it is necessary to put the tuner on each portion of circle, acorder the right tie (or of the left), then to change portion, etc. Always in the same direction of course. The adventure is that we memorize a tone and that tone registers as a reference. When the same tone is found on the next tie, the screen turns green. That's good!

There is a tone for each drum that optimizes the resonance, depending on the size of the drum. But then good courage to find out which one, you are told nowhere! On my battery DW, this tone is inscribed inside each tom, but, to have the note, it sometimes requires a skin too tense or not sufficiently incompatible with the style one wishes to obtain. So I do not recommend it to work like that.

The best is to find a correct adjustment, and to be able to make that each tie is tightened with the same force and that, especially, the two skins (resonance and striking) are adjusted pile hair with the same tension!

IMPORTANT: We are told nowhere, but if you do tuning with your suspended tom as well as playing (normal), your tuner will always find the same tone (which is a mix between the tension of the top skins, Of that of the under and the size of the future)! So remove the tom from the attachment, lay it on a carpet or carpet or any other object that will block the under skin when tuning the top skin (or reverse). There you can do detail without noise pollution. Then, what is disturbing is that when you tune close to the tuner with the wand, it will show various times of different values ??will be that it will calculate the parasitic harmonic or other ... So there, c Is to the talent of each to see which (of tonality) returns more often to be the one of reference ... Good couage!

In the end we must expect a product that will render services to harmonize the tension between the ties and the skins if indeed we have time to do so. But do not wait for a precise device that will allow you to stretch each skin to millimetr, because I think it simply does not exist. Simply because when one touches a tie, the tension of the others is modified in a relative way, it is mathematical. We make ourselves a reason and then we go.

In summary final it allows to have about the same tension between the skin of striking and resonance, which is really very complicated to get otherwise.

PS: I only gave my toms 10 ", 14" and 16 "with I did not try it with the snare drum or the bass drum, I did not think it useful insofar as I already had a satisfying sound.

Benefit depends on the prior knowledge / skills

stuttgarter, 17.02.2017
Tested with a Drumset 22/10/12/16 (double-layered) and Snare (single-layered).

The device makes a good impression both visually and haptically. However, it has a built-in rechargeable battery, which will certainly limit the useful life.

The operation is relatively simple, but you have to get used to the hard-to-adjust clamping mechanism. When the device is correctly clamped, the microphone is a strong thumb wide from the edge and analyzes the incoming signal. OK.

For people who really have no idea of ??the voice, the thing could be a revelation, if at least once the first raising of the skins takes place correctly, but it could already hapern. Then nothing helps. Otherwise you can see quite well, how far the tuning screws are the result of each other away

But: Measurement and display were not reliable, I have since very different displayed is displayed and believe that times the octave is displayed over / under. You should see how much hertz the vibration has at the location of the microphone. So you can bring the tuning screws to the same mood. Theoretically.

Practically, the screws of course affect each other, I turn one, the result also changes with the other screws. The device does not solve this problem. For me as a result a fault, since I learned at the music school good enough. I know now, I get the coat in itself on ca + - 2Hz deviation from the screws. Even if I had the screws with much trouble on exactly the same, I would know that the 5 minutes hard drum not so.

Maybe that makes sense for the studio use, or if one wants to know, which mood was particularly good.
