Excellent product

02.07.2016
I bought the Privia-160 as I recently injured my left hand and my guitar playing is now limited, so I need to break out to keyboard-playing to embellish home recording. I wanted a keyboard with natural piano sounds (I hate cheesy keybords/synths); I also wanted an item that was intuitive and easy to use. I was not disappointed. The Privia is economically laid out, and the instruction manual is simple to follow. The Concert, Modern, Classic, Mellow and Bright piano tones are all excellent, and the various other sound options, including 2 electric organ and vibraphone, are all a delight to use. In the space of a few days I have worked on 3 or 4 (rough but enthusiastic!) recordings already. I would state cons as well as pros but I can only think of the pros for this device. An excellent product.

Special but lovable

24.07.2016
I played the Px-160 for a month before I decided to use the P-45 from Yamaha (my heartfelt thanks for the uncomplicated return). I played it exclusively at home.

I especially liked the Px-160 recording function, the front headphone jacks and the clearer and louder sound of the speakers.
The choice between different mood systems (such as mid-range or Werckmeister III) to choose I have very much appreciated. Even without a special interest in historical music, I believe that one can thus also preserve the sensibility for the fine tone differences on a keyboard instrument.

I see the strongly grained keyboard coating: On the one hand, such imitations of wood or ivory look cheaper than honest plastic. On the other hand, the resistance was extremely pleasant: despite good contact, remaining fingers could cope with simultaneous large hand movements.

The black keyboard sounded much duller than the white (also on another instrument of the same model, so it was not a special feature of this one).
The phenomenon was reduced with the reduction of the dynamics of the attack, at the smallest stage (one step above 'out') it was no longer perceptible to me. With such a reduced attack dynamics, I initially thought I was a big victim, but the remaining dynamic differences were still clearer than they are in my current instrument by default.

As a little detail, the Px-160 needs a few seconds to start up. This is not very long, but the almost-instant-playing-can still be more fluid on my current instrument.

In summary, I believe that I could have been very happy with the Px-160 and experience moments when I miss it. However, you should be prepared for the particularity with the attack dynamics.
