So Good!

I've wanted to get a lighter bass rig for a while & tried a few amps out there, some very light but didn't have every thing I wanted, some had everything I wanted but well above my price limit. I didn't know too much about Bugera but I thought I would try one knowing that I could return it at no cost with Thomann. I need not have worried! It looks great,it is well put together & finished. The controls have a nice resistance when being adjusted. Some of the controls are also lit & are very visible. The tone controls are so widely flexible that a slap bass player could get a nice bright aggressive tone while a jazz player could dial in a warmer tone. The amp weighs a light 3 kilos. The Veyron has a built in carrying handle. Built into the side of the amp and it's also padded, most amps you use two hand to move-not this one! Very smart. Nothing about this amp feels cheap despite the cost. When ordering I phoned Thomann on a Saturday & this amp arrived on Wednesday afternoon to the UK..very good!

Muscleprotz on the catwalk

Achim aus J., 12.12.2015

As always a great achievement from Thomann. Thank you!

I already own an AMPEG PF-800 and its "little brother", the PF-500. Comparisons are made with the 800 version. Actually I would not need the VEYRON, but the curiosity was simply too big and the price too tempting.

On paper the BUGERA impresses quite neatly. "2000 watts at 4 ohms, are you insane?" Was the first disguised comment from one of my colleagues from the guitars, as he read this note on the back of the amp. I told him that this was "just" the peak power. "How many watts does he really have?" Was his next question. Now it was a bit embarrassing and small for me, I replied "I do not know, I also do not know the frequencies of the sound control", whereupon my colleague said: "You do not buy something like that." And, in fact, the company BEHRINGER, which, as you know, is behind BUGERA, makes a great secret. For me incomprehensible.

Visually, the VEYRON is attractive. A sturdy front panel includes all the regularities a bass player needs today. As another colleague wrote here, everyone is clear, who has already played an AMPEG. And the poses are also very useful for the grandiose "shop window", which provides an insight into the interior, which, in turn, gives the impression that tubes are glowing in front of them through several orange LEDs. It would not do such a thing really, but mysterious and beautiful it already looks. Just stop for posing ;-)! But with all the gimmicks I have to stand, that the processing (at least at first glance) is really excellent. The VEYRON feels good. The potentiometers work smoothly, and the rear connections leave nothing to be desired.

They now face the two opponents. Better said "stand" one on top of my bassboxes. The AMPEG PF-800 I know enough. I like this amp easy and am very happy with it. For this reason, the VERYRON must be allowed to play its muscles first. So first of all, the preamp and all the sound distortion set to a neutral position. What followed, after switching on, let me drop the jaw. "Holy shit ..." was my first baffle comment. I was stunned that my beloved PF-800 did not quite reach the VEYRON. No, it is not just the volume that does not give much, but it is the definition of the tone. The BUGERA sounds tighter, tidier and more dynamic than the AMPGEG, especially when it comes to slightly higher levels. The VEYRON behaves as if a tube is hidden in the interior. The very creamy sound really makes this impression come true. I had absolutely not expected. Then I turned on the compressor. With the AMPEG, this feature has never really impressed me. I was not impressed by the VEYRON, but it did a lot better than the compressor of the AMPEG.

The AMPEG PF-800 is a power in itself. Also from a manufacturer, whose name stands for quality and sound. On the used market, an AMPGEG is certainly more expensive than a VEYRON. BUGERA, however, proves with the VEYRON that in terms of sound not only AMPEG is the measure of all things. The VEYRON plays up forcefully, has an attractive appearance, is light and price-like a bargain. It remains to be seen how this amp strikes in long-term operation. With a lead in the sound note the BUGERA then goes beyond the target. The PF-800 follows just behind it. Is there a clear and clear winner? Yes

My criticism relates exclusively to the marketing policy of the brand BUGERA. Instead of splitting with "peak power", rather should compare comparable RMS data to the table. It would not hurt if interested bassists should be able to experience the sound frequencies. I am afraid BUGERA will be shooting in the long run. So you do not gain any customers in semiprofessional and certainly not in the professional field. Nevertheless, I can only recommend the BUGERA VEYRON M. If it does not matter, that the label "BUGERA" the front plate decorates, with this Amp a really very great and successful product. If a bassist should have a new purchase, I can only advise to include this amp in the shortlist. It is worth it!
