Easy looping

Martin2601, 13.05.2015
I bought this after seeing some videos online of DubFX performing some street live looping (he is amazing if you haven't heard of him), and also Nastya Maslova and Roz Firth.

I'm always looking to create music easier and quickly and this seemed to fit the bill nicely. Very simple controls, well laid out, the only extra thing I learn't from the manual is regarding the automatic power off feature that wasn't apparent without going through extra menu settings.

Before I even looked at the manual within 5 minutes after getting it out of the box I had managed to get all 5 tracks running with different effects with just a mic running into it. I'm looking to add a small mixer to select different instruments/keyboards/samples to integrate that as a different and quick way to come up with new songs and ideas.

The only complaint is that it misses the option to have individual foot switch controls to operate the separate record/loop buttons (via 5 x foot switches).

If you are primarily a guitarist you need to look at the foot pedal loopers but otherwise this is great.

Good plastic toy

Robert9064, 26.12.2013
Hello, have the RC-505 now for several weeks and I just decided to send it back. In essential aspects I had already expected more. In the effect section, for example. I had so far only the Vocal Performer VE-20 in use, also by Boss. I used to sing, and sometimes I play E-violin. The effects were really good. They even used them, both for singing and for violin. Most of them are missing the RC-505 or work badly. The chorus does not sound like a chorus, the robot does not sound like nothing, chords (the whole harmony section, which sounds super at the VE-20) does not go anyway. I would have found it very obvious to integrate the mature vocal effects into a device that is marketed specifically for "DJs, beatboxers and singers". I came to the conclusion that this was an idea of ??the marketing department. The thing can be almost nothing, which would be good for beatboxers and singers. It's just a desktop design, that means, beatboxers and singers are the only ones who can use it as planned. In the meantime, I have also gone over to using it with my feet, and I finally want my hands to the violin. This is also quite good. However, the RC-505 not only looks like plastic toys, but is also so processed. Hope I do not break it. Too bad, because the ground versions of Boss are straight because of their processing super. I had meanwhile also the RC-300 for comparison, which is after all made of metal (and looks better). That I then took the RC-505, is because he has five separate tracks. Try it.
Really good is the beat section, which adapts very reliably automatically to the played rhythms. For this, the automatic track sync has very big problems with kick-offs. When I sing "They are racing through the streets", unfortunately only "lawn through the streets" remains, even if I start several seconds before the recording.

If you are looking for a looper with a Rhythm Machine, so just a looper with a Rhythm Machine, and you have the possibility to use it with any part of the body, at least without shoes, I can recommend it. Five tracks are super.
If you need something stable, good effects or simply no five tracks, I guess from the thing and specifically recommend the VE-20. It has a minimallo function, if not rhythms and no memory space.
Apart from this, I assume that Boss soon offers a ground version with the functions of the RC-505. And maybe with those of the VE-20. The technology is already available.

DJing has rather murky origins, and there are many people who claim to have been the first to mix two records together.
