Amazing update to a classic sound.
Ben C 18.11.2020
Can't believe how well this pedal produces classic oc2 sounds. Never had an oc2 but had tried, loved, and wanted one. Didn't want an oc3 as It just wasn't the update on the oc2 I wanted, but man, THIS IS IT. Vintage -1 octave, mixed with an octave up, SOUNDS INSANE. My bass has never sounded so thick. Exactly the update I was looking for, now a proud owner of a BOSS octave pedal. Had my guitarist housemate have a go with his strat and it sounded just as amazing. Get yourself one if you want a versatile octave pedal!

I saw Mike Dawes lauding this pedal, and thought I might have use for it. Had to wait 3 months for it,(Covid times) and was slightly disappointed.
I got this pedal to have a bass tone while doing Acoustic fingerstyle blues/rock. I use a passive soundhole pick up.

In poly setting, it always plays the lowest note, and that means any note, so it can happen with syncopated style, you get the occasional unwanted octave effect on a higher note. Since I play stereo and always have a clean tone on one channel, it does not bother me much.
It tracks very well, just dont use a flanger or so before it, because it will confuse the tracking.

It has a lot of features that I have not used. I did try it on a baritone electric guitar, sounded impressive.

Con: the octave up sounds not pretty.Somewhat distorted. But I´m sure a creative rocker can do something with it.
It takes some time to get used to turning the knobs to get it to work the way you want.

Sounds great, new range feature is awesome.
SBrook91 07.11.2020
I wanted this mainly for the new range feature as it takes the lowest note of a chord and adds the octave effect. It works as described but took me a while to dial in the mix.

It should be noted that when using the range dial, anything above the "lowest" region will apply a filter so that the octave effect will not trigger on any notes above that filter. When using the "lowest" region, it applies it to the lowest note/s of a chord. It wasn't entirely clear that this was the case.

Tracking is excellent, occasionally you can hear it struggling to latch on to notes in large chords.

Found this pedal just the thing I was looking for. After some playing around (Ibanez AR420), this box showes subtleness. Great sound and enough to fiddle with. This thing will attract me to play.

Pro's
Great sound, subtle in adjusting the effect, loads of fun
Its a Boss (Roland) which means quality without the 'buzz'
Con's
Couldn't find any (some may find the box boring to look at, I didn't care about looks)
It isn't cheap
