The most important bass effects in a stable steel case. This makes it unnecessary A string of many floor mats together with cable warp. The bass signal passes through a compressor section, in which COSM technology is used to recreate various well-known compressor types.
Natural (for very natural sound), Limiter, 2x DBX 1600 ind Hard and Softversion, as well as D-Comp. Which is the MXR Dynacomp. Emulated. Personally, I like the natural type best, since here the natural bass sound is best preserved, but also the others certainly have their justification.
There are 8 banks in memory mode, so there are a total of 24 memory slots for your own sound creations. Here I would have wanted something more, since the different combination possibilities of the three main effect blocks among each other are so numerous that the available memory spaces are quickly occupied, in addition, in the same train preset workpresets have to be overwritten, thus thus to be omitted.
The switching of the 8 banks (with the foot) can also be accomplished only by means of an additionally required foot switch. The effect selection is quite well-taken-T-Wah, the well-known octave effect in up and downversion, defretters for the frettlessimitation (rather a correct take ..), Slowgear a fadein effect usable for chord play, EQ presets and Hollow as post-sensation for the Uprightbass .., Defretter and Hollow are according to my feeling only conditionally usable.
The second block contains different distortions and syntax effects. Here is the most useful probably the natural and bassdriver section to the sound and to make rougher. The synth department in then already taste .., Block three unites Delay, Reverb and modulation effects.
In good quality, I would have liked, however, especially with the combinations Delay-Chorus, as well as Reverb-Chorus, that the chorus effect would have been additionally controllable here. A downsampled drive / synth section and in return a better combination of modulation with delay and reverb I would have preferred. Last still to mention the Hold DLY function unfortunately only loops of max.2.8 sec can be played. Here, too, it might have been a little more. The Boss ME50B is a consistently good quality to certify and the principle concept is good, one according to my proposals Reworked version would be perfect ...
I have been playing the effects device for several years now and am more than satisfied with it. On the other hand, it delivers totally crazy psychedelic sounds, which you can compile individually, on the other hand ground-typical typical bass effects like octaver, chorus or wahwah - and all this in proven BOSS quality!
What I especially like is that you can not only use the effects of the previously stored sounds, but also an effect device that is made up of "singles". I put on the left pedal an octaver to my taste, in the middle is a distortion or synth sound and right I have the tap delay at the start. With the expression pedal, I can now either adjust the volume (volume pedal) or add an effect (eg Wah Wah or Octaver etc.).
There are absolutely no limits to creativity. Highly recommended is the built-in compressor, which simply sounds great and can be individually adjusted. Even if I do not use effects, the Compressor runs with and densifies my sound quite fantastic. The one-voice tuner would also be worth mentioning. If on the stage fast times must be tuned, simply essential!
If I play with the fretless bass, then I use the mid-boost, and I already have the official fretless sound, without having to make big changes at the amp. If one calculates what one would have to spend on the individual effects, then one comes with this device in a quite favorable way to a lot of otherwise "more expensive" sounds. The case is sturdy and keeps a lot of. I have extensively tested in years of use :-)
