Does the job very good. It can make very awesome sounds
Ferre11 03.03.2020
i have been using the boss ds-1 pedal for a while now. First of I used it like a real heavy distortion pedal and now i use it just to kinda boost my amp with a bit of distortion. It just works great for the low price of the pedal.
if you are looking for a good 90's distortion pedal this is defenitely it. if you are looking for a soft distortion/boost it does the job but it isnt perfect.

Great pedal to begin with!
Anonymous 22.09.2014
Boss are very famous for their unexpensive pedals and with all the right they are. This is one of the best examples of that and it is a great distortion pedal to start with. Very sound rich.

pretty good starter pedal

does exactly what it says, my only complaint is that it could have a bit more variety? but it's acceptable given the price.

Good basic overdrive

Bought this for my son and he liked it very much to start with, but found it quite limited after a while and upgraded it to something else.
I think it is a great beginner's OD and that if you spend the time with it will provide years of service.

A classic

This is one of the classic Boss pedals - a true affordable workhorse of great build quality. It works best when you use it to get a little extra dirt in your sound. It is even worth to give it a try on bass guitar. I've achieved great results there as well.

RH
Straight forward pedal.
Randy H 05.11.2014
This pedal is as straight forward as they come. 3 knobs, thats it.
Hard metal casing ensures that you can stomp and drop this beauty as you see fit.
The sound isnt the greatest but for the low price it is deffinitly worth getting.
It also goes great with other pedals, no hum or crackling.
The only downsides are that the pedal on its own sounds a bit empty and the LED light that indicates if its on or not isnt always clear in a bright room.

Overall i would get another one of these if this one ever should break down, which i doubt.

Classic Distortion Pedal
Anonymous 16.03.2016
This pedal has been one of the very first pedals I've bought when starting to play electric guitar. It's been used my many artists and can be found on many notable records. For it's price it simply gets the job done. The distortion is mostly ideal for that little bit of grit or dirtiness in the sound, kind of like an 80's or 90's distortion a la Nirvana or even Iron Maiden. I enjoy using it in conjunction with an overdrive pedal to get a more dynamic tone. I's not the best sounding distortion pedal but for that price it is a must have especially for beginner guitarists.
