Great home amplifier

Caradhras, 12.07.2017
A great home amplifier with all effects you would need. It has a great sound (wide stereo feature makes the amplifier sound great) , and it comes with blackstar insider software , with which you can store patches and more.

The best about the amplifier is that you can emulate all artist sound you can imagine with a simple turn of the switches.

The only thing i don't like about the amp is that you can't plug in a footswich in the 10W version.

In conclusion , a great amp for practice with a great building and sound.

Room sound active box with solid and sufficiently versatile amp equipment

18.02.2017
Have the 10 W compared to the 20 W version and other small modelingamps: Roland Micro Cube GX, Vox MINI5 Rhythm IV, Vox VX I, VOX VT20X, Orange Microcrush PiX 3 and Blackstar Fly 3 Pack.

Intermediate:

The Blackstar ID: Core Stereo 10 V2 has, in my opinion, a very practical double function. It is suitable not only as an amp, but also as an MP3 boom box. The playback is much better than the mono amps. For the tiny speakers comes, I think, a very nicely differentiated and above all dry and powerful sound with at the same clear heights from the part. It is enough for the sound of 25-30 m² with an astonishingly wide spatial sound. For me absolutely as a stereo equipment replacement. However, the volume must be controlled at the player.
The 20 W version of the Blackstar did not sound as good for my ears as this - the depths boomed more. Could be relativized again in much larger rooms.

For use as an amp:

Here, the "super wide stereo" technique brings disadvantages, the guitar loses its presence and attack. Depending on the taste, of course, this can also be desired. Interesting is that the room sound can be turned off via the software "Blackstar Insider". Whether the Blackstar in terms of attack and enforcement then came to the Vox Amps, I have not yet directly compared - comes in an update.
Definitely, the stereo story is however in this test group an allotment feature. The clearly more expensive Yamaha THR5 with also 2 Speakern I had already tried earlier and returned.

I played the Blackstar with an Ibanez RG121 and a Harley Benton TE-40. It offers good settings from clean through crunch to "high gain". Quotes because I've never played Engl & Co., let alone possessed. But I would like to argue that the Blackstar has to elicit decent modern metal sounds. Provided you have the right input device. With the Seymour Duncan SH-6 the RG burns quite properly. Even in a very low mood it marsh hardly - just the mentioned stereo effect takes the board some sharpness and focus, which is in the nature of the matter. As I said soon an update to the "untraumable" operation.

Surprised me after years of abstinence, in which I have obviously missed some, that the model transes barely still saw. From the blackstar, too, it sighs and sings from the neckbucker that one is inclined to look where the tubes are hidden in the cube.
The transparency and differentiation of the sound are also pleasing. In any case, the dynamics are better for the Vox amps for me, but also this can again be related to the double boxness. In any case, the Vox feel even more lively and direct, organic.

Very nice is that there are 2 clean models - clean warm and clean bright. Clean bright finishes any mute without the need for an EQ before the amp, and both are also great for the acoustic guitar.
The other models are in principle gain stages, but this may be a bit too simple, because there is also a Gainregler. The two "highest" of the 6 models - OD 1 and OD 2 - have a high Noisegate setting, so they are hardly to be misused for soft string strings. But for the blues, there are the models Crunch and Super Crunch. Also the two clean models tug at high gain, and also in more than just acceptable quality without one would speak here of circular saw charm.

The headphone output drops off a good deal. Despite (or because of?) Loudspeaker emulation, this also sounds by good HiFi headphones more after mono, compression and saw. As I've found, however, it helps to adjust the sound settings, such as less gain. It could simply be a not very successful speaker emulation, further tests follow. Positive is to be noticed at this point, but that by headphones again clearly a tubular smacking attack in the Zerre, which compensates for some.
It should also be noted that the sound at the headphone output is compared with the other test subjects with front. This is also compared once again in one run directly and reported in an update.

The tone control is something special, one has only one regulator, which is supposed to range from "American" to "British". A somewhat "duller" or "lighter" character can be set. With the effect section I can unfortunately start less. They do not meet my taste. Chorus, flanger, tremolo, I find less successful, the car-Wah still most likely. They sound artificial or simply wrong for my terms. This also applies to the reverb options - there are only delays in variants that differ little. A Spring Reverb is missing or I have not found it yet. There are only numbers on the controllers as names. Perhaps my reverb also omitted because of the room sound.

I recommend the Blackstar because of the very good music reproduction for my purposes and the ground-level amp models with the possibility to elicit very nice sounds in the model clean bright also over acoustic guitar - here the "super wide stereo" plays its strengths.

Fascinating as the hardness of the string stop is now shown in the non-tube range, the Blackstar is no exception: Even in the heavily distorted OD 1 and OD 2 one comes to almost cleane tones - despite Noisegate.

By the way, there is a free access to "Studio One 3".

The enthusiasm - of course always measured at the low price - should be perfect, if I get it also in the Highgain still "crisp", then in the supplement!
