The best item I ever bought!
Zonny 23.03.2021
So, I've been using these since Christmas 2020 and I'm as happy as can be.

I use them in my home studio, sometimes for hours on end for recording and mixing and I'm as happy as I can be. I don't necessarily recommend them for vocal recording (even though they work great for that too), because they are semi-open and some spillage occurs, but for mixing, mastering, monitoring, instrumental recordings (not drums) or just everyday use, they're amazing.

I was overwhelmed when I first plugged them in, and started playing songs and some of my older mixes. They seemed dull at first, but after a few minutes I realized that I could hear details that I've never heard before and I quickly found myself diving into sounds of a neutral clarity that had me smiling like a child.

They are extremely comfortable and sit well on my head for hours with no repercussions.

To be noted is that you need a headphone amplifier to make these headphones work. I recommend the Presonus HP4 for a home studio set-up (the same one that was recommended to me by thomann employees) which is also a great piece of equipment.

Pros: Comfortable, neutral sound, durable, long cable.

Cons: I would of maybe liked for the cable to be replaceable but I'm just just nitpicking right now.

Spacious balanced soundstage
clivei 11.05.2018
Upgraded to these (DT880 600ohm) from DT770Pro 250 ohm and am using them on top end vintage/classic synthesizers and FX with a top end mixer and a Lake People G109P headphone amp. Low and high frequency presentation are exceptionally well controlled (compared to DT770) though initially they seemed a little dull - either running in or just getting used to different presentation? Either way I was adjusted by about 6 hours in and found mid to upper detail to be excellent - can easily here individual delays in delay/reverb chained FX , for example. Bass presentation is much less likely to blow your eardrums (DT770 can feel like that, being close backed) and, with 'unpressured' eardrums(!), its easy to listen to bass analytically. The whole frequency range sounds very well integrated. Being super critical, I guess curly cable rather than straight is more comfortable to use but the cable is long. More frequency extension is always nice too but there's certainly a lot more range than the DT770. Overall, massively impressed and love how big pads have absolutely vast soundstage.

b
A very comfortable, well built headphone
bleyrad 23.04.2021
This is my second pair. The first pair, after about 10 years of constant use, started to sound very different with a bloated low-midrange and it became unusable. So be aware that can happen over time.

I have other headphones for more critical mixing work (Sennheiser HD600's) which I trust more in the mids than DT880's, but the DT880's are my daily drivers for general listening purposes, AFTER EQ. There are a couple really sharp spikes in the treble that can be tamed with EQ. After doing so they are a relatively flat headphone. Note that I have measured these spikes to be at somewhat different frequencies between my two pairs of DT880's, so you can't necessarily just cut based on an frequency graph online, you would need to find where they are on your pair. Without EQ, they can have a tendency to sound extremely sibilant and bright on certain material even when it is not merited.

The built quality is great, other than the foam cups tend to wear out pretty quickly (I replace them every year or so - consider ordering extra foam along with the headphones). Most importantly they are always very comfortable even when worn all day long.

Best headphones I've owned
antriq 04.04.2019
I have had these headphones for about a year now.
They are used for both music production and daily use, when gaming, watching movies or listening to music.
The sound is really balanced, and you can hear low, mids and high ends in a balanced way.
They are not colored by bass - which makes them very neutral and good for mixing/production purposes.

Small tip:
Since they are 600 Ohms, check if your audio interface can handle the resistance, or if you need to purchase a headphone amplifier to get the full power of the headphones.
