I was skeptical at first, but they work great!
Björn Magnus Olof, 17.10.2019
I bought two stereo pairs of the C-2, since we sometimes need a larger amount of microphones for some shows. So, that means 4 microphones with accessories for a total cost of 76 Euros. I couldn't invest in something more expensive, so I was sadly convinced not to receive any decent quality for that price, but I was proven wrong.

Features
The -10db came in handy when using as overheads on drums and percussion. We did the low cut in the mix so we didn't use that feature. Anyhow, i suspect it's not possible to combine low cut with -10db..? Haven't checked it up, but it kind of seems so from looking at the mic. I guess the C-2 provide the basic features and the hard case and accessories (windscreen and stereo bar) for that price are incredible so let's go for 5 stars.

Sound
We used them as overheads on drums (the stereo bar came in handy) and percussion for a live show. Both the live sound and the recordings worked great. Later, I also recorded some backing vocals for a guide track with one of these, since it's easier to just put the windscreen (also included) on and sing directly in than rigging up my large diaphragm mic on a stand etc. I was amazed how clear the sound was!

Quality
My colleague has a lot of experience working with an earlier model of these mics from Behringer. He pointed out that they have to be handled with care as they can break easier than other comparable mics. That justifies my 4 star quality rating, actually I can't say anything out of own experience. Anyway, since they come well protected in a stuffed box, it would really be my own fault if they break. I don't know any other mic than a SM58 you could mistreat just for fun ;)

Overall, I'd like to point out again that these mics work VERY FINE for what you normally need a decent small diaphragm microphone for! I have a Rode M3 since years ago that I use every now and then. I have no reason to say it sounds better, and again, it costs the same as 4 of the C-2. And something like a Neumann KM87 was out of my league anyway. To summon up, if you're in for a budget small diaphragm you can just as well buy the cheapest ones there are. You won't regret saving the money and I really don't think a microphone for even four times the price would make you any happier.

Great affordable pair of overheads
Vadim The Drummer, 08.02.2020
I got these mics to closemic ride and hi hat, to have more possibilities in tweaking the sound on post. They work really well and I'm particularly satisfied with the way the hi hat sounds. Wind screen also came useful for the ride cymbal. Same goes for high pass filter.
I always say if you don't have a great room for drum tracking, then you don't need expensive mics and this set of Behringers works perfect in my small drum studio.

Excellent for the price
06.02.2015
I bought these mikes specifically for use as drum overheads. I have used them in an XY, and AB spaced position, as well as using the Recorderman technique - see the end of this review for a brief explanation.

The mics are well made, and feel solid. They provide a three-position switch for flat, low-pass or -10dB pad response. The -10dB pad is particularly useful for miking loud percussive instruments such as a drum kit. The cardiod response is good for minimising off-axis response, which is useful if your recording space is less than stellar or too boxy.

They have proven solid and reliable performers. Their response time is good which makes them very well suited for percussive instruments. Frequency wise, they have a good response which is not over-hyped at the high-end like some other cheap mikes. Noise hasn't been an issue. Stereo wise, they provide a solid, coherent image which I find particularly appealing.

My favoured setup is Recorderman overhead drum mic technique. Basically one of the mikes is placed directly above the centre of the snare drum about two drum sticks in height. The other one is placed roughly above the drummer's shoulder, on the floor tome side, also pointing towards the centre of the snare, at an equal distance. This provides a balanced sound for the entire kit, without too much room sound. You can vary the position of the second mike to get more/less volume from the bass drum.

Excellent value, and a bargain at the price. I would certainly buy them again.

Great little condenser microphones
Adrian3174, 09.12.2015
I bought these for recording live bands. The microphones come in a foam filled plastic carry case which is great for storage and should protect the microphones when they are in transit. The build quality of the microphones is good; they come complete with clips and a twin mounting bar for placement on a microphone stand. The microphones also come with a pair of windshields which are fine but don't expect to be able to use these outdoors without additional protection from the wind. The microphones have a switchable low pass filter and a -10dB pad but unfortunately it is not possible to use both at the same time. Of course these microphones require phantom power and as such cannot be connected to some recorders directly. Either a mixer with phantom power or a phantom power inserter such as the Millenium PP2B Phantom Power Supply will need to be used with entry level recorders such as the Tascam DR-05 etc.

Sound quality is surprisingly good for a microphone at this price point. The response is smooth and well extended. Self generated noise is also low but not as good as a large diaphragm condenser. If you need to use these for vocals then you would most likely need a popkiller as plosives at short range cause the microphones to pop as you would expect.

If you are looking for microphones for live recordings and you are on a budget then these are well worth considering.

Best buy small diaphragm mics
Leo_CRO, 17.01.2020
I own 2 C-2 stereo sets... For that price you can't buy better mics!
Great for hihat or ride cymbals, or OH recording drums or percussions...
I recommend them for recording some unprofessional gigs or something like that!

Behringer does it again!
Yakovlev Pavel, 04.12.2019
Great pair of small condenser mics! Been using them live for overheads and in the studio for tracking some acoustic guitars. Sounds really good, especially for the pricepoint. Totally recommend! Thanks, Thomann!

At the very beginning I want to say that for the most part quality depends not only on microphones, but also on the acoustics of the room. I use these microphones to record my compositions on the piano. Despite their price, they produce quite a good sound. Of course, microphones for $ 100 or 300 sound better in some subtleties, but if you don’t have a big budget or just start recording guitar, piano and any other instruments, then take them

Great mics for great price
Kinrovay, 22.01.2020
I was really curious about this mics, especially because of the good price, so I've ordered it. I can say that this is the best buy I've ever made. The quality for this price is just ridiculously good. I've tested it as OH mics for drum recording and also as second mic for guitar recording in combination with Shure SM57. As I mentioned before, the results are ridiculously good. I'm thinking about buying another pair, to use it for Hi-Hat and Ride.

Cheapest matched SDC set in the world
Paresse, 22.05.2019
For the price it could be argued these should sound like raw potatoes but they just don't. They are electret so if you're looking for a 'true' condenser this ain't it but at the price who cares? They sound good with a reasonably low noise floor and would be not amiss in stereo amateur choir or piano recording.

Honestly, even if they didn't work they would be one of the cheapest paperweights I've ever bought, win-win, buy them.

Very impressed !
White_Ruin, 12.07.2019
Using these as overheads for drumkit - sound quality is excellent for the cost. I would recommend them without hesitation. Just be aware these need a phantom power source. Service from Thomann was fantastic.

Best budget microphones out there!
EliF, 13.01.2020
I bought these to use in my home studio, for recording guitar and piano. They work perfectly for that usecase, I leant them to a friend who used them in a live sound environment on a bodhran and they held up perfectly.
The case they come in is a little bulky if you're carrying a lot of gear but the fact they even come with a hard case at this price is amazing

Mega good for violins and flutes
Michal3806, 25.07.2015
I conduct a choir specializing in what I'd call a progressive religious choral music - think Piotr Rubik meets Pink Floyd ? In other words, a lot of singers, a lot of players playing a lot of instruments including some that are notoriously hard to a) amplify b) amplify properly, such as violins and flutes.

After I bit of research, I decided to go for this matched pair - the price is hard to match, especially if you consider that C2s come in a case, with foam popshields and a microphone stand adapter.

I wasn't disappointed. Far from it. Soundwise, the microphones are really excellent - we use them for, you guessed it, violins and flutes, and reproduction is natural and realistic.

The perceived quality is high, they seem well built and so far we've had no issues with them - mind, they're not used in a permanent installation, we move quite a lot.

Definitely recommended.

Second set
Sarah H, 25.09.2019
This is my second set of these. My first set has been going strong for over ten years, so I thought I could maybe spend the tiny amount of money that they cost again and have two stereo pairs.

I personally really like their attention to the high end, so they're awesome for overheads on drums if you're on a budget. I've also used them as secondary mics for vocal choirs/barbershop. Mostly I use them for recording guitar amps in stereo.

Honestly can't fault them at this price, although there *are* better mics out there if you have the money.

Decent sounding mice for price you cant beat!
IvarsOzolsDB, 04.06.2013
Worked with 4 pairs in last years. These little things are one of best budget mics available. Of course they are no Neumanns and such but the price/quality ratio is superb. Good, clear, detailed sound, not muddy at all. Features nice low frequency roll off and -10dB cut. Great build quality, nice, strong metal mics. No cheap plastic crap here. Comes with nice transport case, holders and stereo bar, easy to take them on the road.

I have used them on string orchestra, choir, guitars and as drum overheads in live PA setup, also I have used them to record live acoustic concerts and acoustic guitar in home studio. I highly recommend them if you are on low budget or want a decent sounding mic that you can replace not breaking the bank.

Functional, but lifespan is questionable.
Daniel C, 06.06.2017
I've owned multiple sets of the C2s, for different purposes, and your use dictates their lifespan. As studio microphones, the repeated connection cycling can cause mechanical faileure, as I've experienced on one of mine. However, in a static setup (e.g. as an XY pair for a lecturn), they work wonderfully. A bit bright for some purposes, but good for the money. Would consider them ideal for budget installations or as a last minute replacement, but would be worth investing a bit more into high quality versions - the B5's are pretty good.

The included stereo bar is very useful too.

Good stereo paired mic set
Stephane4242, 17.06.2016
It's not mind blowing in terms of sound. I find them a little dull but some could hear this as "flat" which, in a way is good. They are cheap but they do a good job on overheads, or for close acoustic guitar miking. I even used them as close drum mics and they were surprisingly responsive. In either case thy are a bit dull in sound and you need a bit of EQ (before or after depending on taste and method) to bring the brilliance in the instruments.
They feel solid as they have a little weight in them, featured with a -10Db pad and a low cut filter they do what they say on the tin. As first buy for a paired mic set it's a really good first and affordable investment for live, home studio and various other things. Recommended.

My first overheads...
Alex Djuran, 28.09.2018
I've been tracking down overhead mics for a while, since I record live drums now. I was thinking of buying a Samson DK707 kit, but I ended up going with the 705 and these bad boys and I'm very pleased. Surprisingly clarity in the top end, picks up cymbals really well. The high pass and 10db pad are nice features, but it's a shame they can't be used at the same time. Despite their incredibly low price point, these are a steal!

Behringer C2 Stereoset
06.01.2015
These were purchased primarily for amplifying a mixed choir of about 15 men and women, in an environment which did not really allow for fixed microphones. I set these up on a stand using the supplied bar which allows you to mount a stereo pair on the one stand.

Initially I set this up with both mics pointed directly at the choir. Results were pretty good, with a light, airy quality to the reproduction through the sound desk. However, these really came into their own when I used them as an XY pair, each mic pointing at the opposite corner of where the performers were... this gave a much fuller sound.

These mics have been used regularly over the last 3 years with no issues, despite the stand having to be regularly moved around. I would definitely recommend them.

Amazing performance for the price
Isaac1, 07.02.2020
Wasn't expecting much for £16 per mic but I was blown away by the performance. At 1/10th of the price of some of the mid-range models from Shure/AKG/Rode, I would absolutely recommend trying these first.

Amazing value for money
Unluckypixie, 20.12.2018
I've used these to record acoustic guitar (close) and even some vocals and for the money they are brilliant. The output is not very "hot" so you need to turn up the pre-amps a bit but I have no problems with noise.
