B-Band UKKO-S Snare Drum Contact Mic

Snare Drum Contact Microphone

  • B-Band pickups and contact microphones deliver absolute acoustic sound
  • The system distinguishes itself through its superior isolation, eliminating bleed from other drums. Crosstalk is a thing of the past.
  • Mounts to drum without modification
  • Ultra-quick setup
  • Ready to go as soon as the cable is connected to the PA mixer
  • No need to position microphones
  • The drum set will have a very clean look without the clutter of mics and stands
  • Two mini switches for contouring the sound for a choice of tone
  • One switch controls a +3dB Mid Boost at 500 Hz and the other is for a -6dB High Cut
  • XLR connector output
  • 48 V phantom power (can be provided from most PA mixers)

Something fummelig but quite usable

JanH, 02.07.2010
Have the UKKO-S built into my Delite wood snare 14 "x5". Lt. (Unfortunately only English-language) instructions the micro is 6mm below the beating position. If a reinforcing ring is present, then below this ring, since otherwise the micro can not be glued to the entire surface. Humbug - at the Delite goes 6mm below the coat and still on the said ring ;-)

The cable of the microphone looks very filigree and is not for people with coarse motor. The preamp must be connected to the correct polarity. This is only for people with good eyes, since a 3mm big, black arrow on the Minianschluss (wisely the plug is also black) is. If you close it wrong, almost nothing comes out of the micro. The rim mounting and the preamp housing is completely made of plastic, but space-saving and practical. I did not use airlux mounting on the boiler (maybe later).

Without the DIP switches (again a very fumble-like matter) EQ's, which one had sensibly better externally attached to the housing and not inside, the micro sounds unspectacular and somewhat thin (compared to a SM57). With the preamp EQ's klingts already quite pleasant and the frequency response (checked with Spectrumanalyser in Cubase) reflects this also again. However, you should have at least 2 parametric mids in the console for live inserts in order to fatten the sound accordingly.

Lt. Manufacturer, the talking of other parts of the drums on the said mic is a thing of the past - that's not true. Of course, one still has conversations (in my case, most of the bassdrum). However, it is limited (compared to SM57). From the dynamics I find it OK (style direction: Rock).

For Live I would not necessarily take it, since the effort on the mixer requires a capable mixer and I do not trust the adhesive fastening of the microphone so right. If something went wrong in the hard stage all day during the concert, one would have to remove a drum drum to correct the error. This is practically impossible in practice.

I use the micro mainly for recordings in the Proberaum. That folds wonderful.

Reviews on micro ukko bband caisse claire

Nicolas305, 08.05.2013
Product delivered quickly by ups easy installation product but pay attention to the unpacking of the micro tongue because a little fragile and that and wedged in the corners in the cardboard box delivered with two possibilities of installation one for fixing on a hole of d ' Vent if you have two either on the circle of the was with the clamp provided once installed more problem to know or installed the microphones on the drums no need to take microphones so weight gain during concerts just to anticipate overhs And for the charleston if not the sound level I have already done several concerts in bar / pub + concert hall sound very correct
