Firstly, the service from Thomann was excellent as always. The wah pedal was delivered quickly and well packed. On opening the box, I found a very high quality item that has obviously been well designed, with a very tough metal chassis and rocker, tough jack sockets, heavy rubber pad on top, and internally good quality electronics. The hinge and spring mechanism are very tough looking and look like they will survive being stood on by 15 stone guitar players well enough! In use there are a few aspects to it. First off the sound of the wah is excellent. The selector switch on side enables you to get a good range of wah styles, something for everyone. The overall sound is quite an abrupt, vocal wah, a bit like a Crybaby. The technique for use takes a small amount of adaptation, but I didn't find it a problem. Just get your foot in the right position, with the wah central to your foot. Velcroed on a pedal board, the wah is plenty stable enough. It does need more room than you'd expect though, as it still needs enough room in front of it and behind to accommodate your foot...not something that has occurred to me until I tried it. I used it a for a few months without problems, and have only sold it on because I've gone back to using a switchless wah for technique reasons. The new owner is very happy with it.
I initially bought this little gem as a spare to go on my smaller practice pedal board - my usual wah is a GIG-FX MegaWah Peter Frampton model, so it needed to at least compete with that! I've had loads of different wahs throughout the years - the usual CryBaby's, Morley, Colorsound, etc., so I appreciate the build quality and feature set of the AMT. It's diminutive size hides a well built and versatile pedal that is quiet in operation and has a broad palette of sounds, via it's 3 way sweep select switch, giving you a lot of choice of sound. This wah has the same footprint as a typical Boss unit, but packs a lot in! The case is well manufactured and should hold up well in a professional environment.
I love the sound of it, and the 2 blue 'on' LED's are a nice touch! This pedal is great value for money, and it has encouraged me to check out the rest of the AMT range.
