Signature Ampeg Sound in a small package
James K., 22.01.2018
I got this amp as I used to play the older 100w model and other Ampegs when I was younger and I am trying to get back into playing after a few years. I tried many other brands and amps and listened to many different sound samples for combo amps in this price/power range on Thomann, but the others just didn't have the sound I hear in my head that I want to sound like.
The amp controls of bass, middle and treble work well with no noise (a little hiss when the treble is maxed out but that's normal) .
The Aux in and Aux level work well when playing songs from my laptop/phone through the amp and playing along with them, I can set separate volume levels for my bass and the Aux to get the levels matching.
The HF mute to mute the High Frequency horn works well however i like the tone with it on so I don't use this feature but would be more applicable to people who play Jazz, Reggae and any other style where you might not want extreme highs.
The Ultra Hi and Ultra Lo buttons when pushed in work to give a boost to high and low frequencies resulting in a scooped round sound great for slapping and popping, ultra lo could be used on its own for sub bass sound and ultra hi could be used for really accentuating harmonics.
The Scrambler Effect built in is great, when both Drive and Blend are set to 12 o clock position it gives just enough drive to give a sound similar to a tube amp (like an old SVT), I am currently leaving the effect on as I really love the tone with it on however a separate footswitch can be purchased to switch the scrambler circuit on/off, so using this you could set it for a more aggressive fuzz effect and switch on and off as required.
The amp has an xlr line out which can be used for large concerts to connect into the PA, for small/medium venues this amp is probably loud enough on its own, for large venues the amp can be turned and tilted back into a monitor and plugged into PA as mentioned.
My only potential issue with this amp is the knobs and top handle seem a little flimsy (don't take that up wrong, they don't break easy they just feel a little delicate), I would've preferred more sturdy controls like whats used on the SVT's but as this is just a combo amp what is provided is good enough.
All in all extremely happy with this purchase.

Good amp
Petsakas, 05.02.2019
I have this amp for more than 1 year. I use it mainly for band practice. Pros: Nice warm sound, light (considering the wattage), sufficient power, scrambler is a nice add-on
Cons: Difficult to get a more defined sound for metal music. I guess the large speaker is not suited for such a sound. Also, the footswitch was not included and was not easy to find - I had to contact Thomann via email for advice (who immediately recommended the best and most cost-efficient option Thanks Thomann!)

Very happy bassist!
Alex25, 28.01.2015
Im in a regularly gigging band and we are starting to do some larger shows now so really needed something that will last. This seems perfect for me!
Really robust design, sound is awesome, that scrambler is great fun to play around with and i have it on all the time which adds a nice crisp to the higher notes. It handles the lower notes just fine!
overall very happy with the amp and can see it lasting me a long time
